and I played it badly ... [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I doubt he folds that hand, but he might have folded others. But then again, I don't think you want him folding a non-ace hand. Also postflop you cant really fold so you have to try to get value from a non-ace hand. Like you did. |

I guess this will get lost in this thread but I have 200k chips going into day 3 of the LAPC WPT main event. Theres about 150 people left, avg stack about 110k, first place is 2.4 million. So anyone in the LA/ COmmerce area come by and sweat a little.
Also everyones favorite TV star J-lit is still in with 140k or so and strasser is still in too. |

There's this really douchey thread in Televised Poker where all the douches with 80 posts and pokerraja are calling Phil Gordon a douche. Nobody good actually thinks he's a douche right? There's no basis for it whatsoever. [/ QUOTE ] I sat next to Phil in a cash game at MGM Grand for four hours about a year and a half ago. He will give people [censored], but it seems to me to be good natured. I had a great time with him and so did everyone else at the table. He was slapping me and the guy on the other side of him on the back; playing rock, paper, scissors; just having fun basically (it was a 1/2 nl cash game). He was giving me a little advice when he was done playing. The closest thing to making him a douche is he will try to take your money (as any good player would). He is very good and reads people better than anyone I've played with before or since. He's very LAG and very difficult to play against. I was glad to be on his left and not his right. To answer your question, speaking for myself and everyone who was at that table, I think he's a great guy. |

Brag: While in a good mindset I've been beating the 16s over a few hundred and feeling great about my game. My bankroll has grown to its largest size ever even after paying a small coaching fee.
Beat: Broke up with my girlfriend that I both live and work with. This is going to be highly painful for awhile. Variance: I'm going to have way more time to play poker but I might not be in the right frame of mind to do so. |

If you are facing a bet, which of these bets seems psychologically the biggest?:
1) 199 2) 200 In stores $200 seems a lot more than $199 so stores intentionally set prices just below round numbers because the customers then will get the impression that their merchandise is cheaper than it actually is. This counts in favour of a 200 bet seeming psychologically bigger than a 199 bet. When you are faced with a 200 bet, you are facing an innocent 2 chip bet (2 100-chips). Whereas with a 199 bet you are facing a mountain of chips. The mountain of chips seems psychologically bigger. Which of these effects is the strongest? |
