Default Re: SSNL [cheese] thread: MARCH 2007 Pt. 2 (nc)

I'm so sad. Poker is heartbreaking for me right now. My day goes like this: Been playing some MTT's. Get to the final table in a 20/180. Been nursing a 10bb stack for a long time. Final 60 hands of the tourney I get one premium, AQ. It gets called ai by another AQ and we split. Just card dead. Stealing with junk every chance I get to stay above water. But, pretty much staying at around 10-12 bb's.

Then, I get to the final 8, get to see a flop from the bb for free and flop a straight. Dude has an OESD himself and outdraws my straight with runner runner flush and I am out. Almost made me cry it was so ridiculous. I mean, I see a flop for the first time in an hour, flop a straight, and the other dude has a hand that he can get ai with and suckout the hard way.

Cash games today go like this. I am UTG at a ridiculously loose table. Stacks are going back and forth all over. 4 hands in a row I get KK, AA, KQs, AA. I PFR all of them and all fold to me. No action. Then this a few hands later against a guy not too good:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) internettexasholdem.com

SB ($62.25)
BB ($323.35)
UTG ($34.05)
MP ($80.65)
CO ($251.05)
Hero ($113.55)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP raises to $3, 1 fold, Hero raises to $10, 2 folds, MP calls $7.

Flop: ($21.50) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP bets $6, Hero raises to $30, MP calls $24.

Turn: ($81.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP bets $40.65 (All-In), Hero calls $40.65.

River: ($162.80) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $162.80

Results in white below:
MP has 8h 9h (straight, ten high).
Hero has As Qc (two pair, aces and queens).
Outcome: MP wins $162.80.

I mean, I don't ask for much, I just want to run normal again. Without tilting too would be nice.

I feel your pain. The last 3 weekends I've played the Stars $650 WSOP ME qualifier and played for 5 1/2 hours each time only to finish less than 40 spots from a seat. Each time 700+ entrants. Top 40 or so get seats.

Guess I was right about getting the doomswitch. Guess I deserved it for not raising the turn.

AJ: I think a big step towards fixing your problem would be to acknowledge that donkaments are evil, full of sadness and tragedy, and stop playing them. There's no light at the end of that tunnel where donkaments are concerned, friend.

Can anyone give tips on how you motivate yourself to play more poker? I dont need the money, but I want to make more. I am playing good, but I am being lazy. There is a thread in the psych forum about motivation:

Posting any little tricks that you use to motivate yourself would be appreciated. That thread is probably better than here.

I have had this problem for a long time. Something I have started doing is to set a certain number of hours as the goal for the month. Then I pick something sweet to buy for myself if I make it.

Cassette - I kinda like that idea. So like if you play 150 hours in the month you get yourself a new flat screen TV or whatever. That sounds like a fun idea.
