Long time lurker, I haven't posted more often because SSNL requires patience more than anything else.

This was an interesting game to watch, especially as I thought that POG was going to get positionally crushed after the opening.

I don't have any questions specific to this game but I did think to ask curtains if he would consider doing a 'well' thread at some point in the future concerning his chess career.

Question: Will Karpov ever against be seen in a World Championship?

Answer: Only in the ticket line!

Thanks for the game, wish we'd taken a few losing chances along the way but all worked out well in the end.

Admitted noob ... if PoG goes 44. b5, do you go King to C5?

If so I am not sure why PoG doesn't free the pawn then move the knight to B3 after you move K..C5, trading bishop for pawn.

It was a good game. I almost sat out until I found out a few others on the POG team were higher rated than me. I couldn't stay away from a good chess thread though, we need more of these here.

Mostly likely some old man that rambles on like Fred Reinfeld. Silly talk of generalities without any real solid analysis, just stuff like “we can be a pawn down with N vs B as long as the pawns are on the kingside” that sort of nonsense….

Regardless if anyone was rated higher in this tread, clearly Tim’s contribution was the lighthouse that steered us into the draw. I’m sure everyone would agree that without his work we would have lost.
Thanks Tim !

this was really interesting. I followed it pretty closely but I used a computer to check through some stuff in the opening, so I felt it wouldn't be right to contribute to the game. I didn't do much analysis but I bet there is an improvement for White when he is a pawn up.

I hope we'll have another of these, maybe with someone else. Don't know if there is anyone else with curtains' qualifications though. Even POG vs Fritz would be interesting.
