And on that note, this thread should be done. No one is changing his/her mind. The rationalizations, recriminations, accusations, suppositions, Justin-afications, etc. have all been made. It's obvious that there is no 100% consensus on this, and we've made very good use of modern technology to voice opinions on all sides of the main topic and tangent points. Nothing more to see here.

[/ QUOTE ]

As much as I am opposed to stifling open debate and banning posters, I would sooner see a poster who supported thread locking get banned than the thread get locked. At least the the banning of one person would affect fewer people than all those that are interested in a whole thread.

Those who support thread locking exhibit a selfish, self serving, and yet inexplicable attitude that I am a loss to understand. What benefit do the thread locking supporters imagine comes to themselves by taking something away from the people who are interested in the thread or topic. It is as if they can't stand to see others enjoying themselves.

[ QUOTE ]

I think we can stop speculating about OTHER ways that ZJ cheated. I'd be willing to bet that it never went beyond the extent that he mentions (a hefty extent) and that in his own mind, he actually didn't think he was doing anything too wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with Shaniac on this. I think ZJ thought he was doing something slightly wrong, and he made some small efforts to make up for that. He knew it was a little shady and a little risky, but he decided that he was okay with that. Clearly he was wrong, most people think it was enormously scummy. But he should have no complaints about what happened to him. He should have known that this was a potential outcome.
I also think the people going after Shaniac and Curtains for not turning in people they knew might be multitabling are crazy. Things aren't always so clear-cut.

You didn't see the poll? Or your natural tendency to bombastically pontificate overwhelmed you? Hehe. I voiced my opinion in my post, and made the first vote. Please put yours in and enjoy yourself.

So what's the record for replies on one thread?

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't even think this thread is a record. Check out the one about banging chicks from MySpace.com in OOT. More than 3,000 replies.

El D,

I'm sure you probably don't care but I think you are probably one of the greatest people alive in this day and age. Maybe a little over the top, but you have always been spot on with your poker and life advice and I appreciate what you have done on these forums.

I really can't understand the people who claim that "snitching" is the most dispicable thing a person could ever do. What a load of rot. I guess this sort of mentality comes from lame college social structures such as fraternities, or some other such nonsense. Regardless, people who truly believe this have very seriously broken moral compasses.

Suppose a group of good friends got together and conned your grandmother out of her life savings. If that happened to one of these people who bitch about people who "snitch", I very much doubt they'd go up to the accused and say "Well, they can't prove it but I know you conned my poor grandma out of her lifes work. Now she doesn't even have a home. I find you all absolutely disgusting. However, I totally respect the fact that you don't "snitch" on each other, cause that would be really wrong. Good job boys."

Basically, the "anti-snitchers" are just morons who more than likely know people who engage in these sort of practices themselves, or are afraid that someone will snitch on them for their own indiscretions, so they want the "anti-snitching" code to be upheld for their own pathetic reasons. To be honest, I wouldn't lose any sleep if all of you people "in the know" about online cheating but refusing to come forward lose your money and your accounts too. It'll never happen but hey, it would be nice. You're basically complicit in their cheating, and really aren't much better than the cheaters themselves.

[ QUOTE ]
All I can do is what I believe what curtains was trying to do--convince people that it was clearly wrong and let them argue otherwise. But I'm not sure what world you live in where someone reveals a secret to you in confidence, you tell them you disagree with it, then turn around and drop a dime.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is bullsh*t. You did not have only two choices: squeal or sit back and say nothing. You also could, and should, have at least used your pseudo-celebrity and authority to air the issue generally. Why couldn't you or Curtains or any of the other moral relativists we appear to have populating these boards simply post threads saying that this type of cheating was rampant, WITHOUT HAVING TO NAME NAMES????? This cheating appears to be rampant, and it was hardly ever discussed by "respected" posters who knew it was going on and could have used their influence to air it out. Disgusting....
