[ QUOTE ]
Both, however, are very good at math and poker theory. I imagine the book will be written in a way that focuses on NL topics that take advantage of those strengths. [/ QUOTE ] That would be a very poor book, IMO. Take, for example, the ridiculous example being given here by Mason. He wants to turn this into a math problem. Like XX% of the time an A or Q will flop, and the AQ will check call the 3/4 pot continuation bet, etc. This is not limit poker, and that kind of simplicity (trying to turn this into a math problem, with all significant decisions ending when an A or Q flops) will only cause beginning players to horribly misplay their hands. Remember, the opponent is aggressive enough to be reraising an EP raiser with JJ. And aggressive enough for us to be calling this reraise with just AQs. This means the post flop action might be a little more complicated then check-bet-call, check-check, check-check. This is not a mere math problem. As for the people who claim there is "piling on" occurring here because it is Mason who posted this - I couldn't disagree more. If anyone outside of a certain select few had posted this, they would have gotten ripped a lot harder. |

I imagine the treatment of some things will be very good. Short-stack all-in strategy, for example.

There is not much good literature on NLHE cash games, and I am not looking forward to this hitting the market. Hopefully though it tells people to call big reraises with AQs (I understand that is not what is happening here, just making a joke) |

As AQs starts facing better and better players holding the Jacks, the chances of getting stacked increase as well as the chances of getting blown off the better hand. [/ QUOTE ] Hi Masked Man: This I agree with but it's not happening at the limit I played at. In the $10-$20 blind game that is certainly more of a possibility. Best wishes, Mason |

Hi Mikech:
I think you'll be amazed as to how good the no limit book that is being written by David and Ed will be. To say that David is an inexperienced no limit player just shows that you know virtually nothing about his playing background, and David has been playing poker in Las Vegas and many other places for over 30 years. As for Ed Miller, if you have read Getting Started in Hold 'em you should already be aware that he knows something about no limit. He's the first one to ever explain the advantages of a short stack strategy, something that he and I discussed at length before the book came out. As for Ray, he's more than welcome to write a no limit book. We would certainly support it, but it's doubtful this will happen. However, I have made the suggestion to him. Best wishes, Mason |

Hi Masked Man:
As I stated in my other post, David is far more experienced at this game than most people realize. Everyone needs to understand that no limit disappeared from Vegas cardrooms in the early nineties, but David has been around far longer than that. But it did last a few more years around the tournaments, particularly the WSOP and the Golden Nugget Grand Prix. best wishes, Mason |

I may not have the situation correct that Dan described for the hand> But his statement that he didn't think she was capable of making the bet she made was accurate. Best wishes, Mason |

Hi Masked Man:
Your idea as to what my experience and knowledge is is also limited. Even though I haven't played much no limit simply because the game didn't exist until recently, perhaps more than anyone else in all of poker, I have had the luxury of talking sophisticated poker of all type with many of the best players in the world. This includes huge numbers of hours of discussion with both Ray Zee and Dan Harrington, people who I have been close friends with for about 20 years each. So to be specific, I'm very aware as to the value of position in no limit and am also well aware as to the difference of that value when compared to a limit game. On top of that, I'm also quite aware as to the severity of certain type of errors when comparing limit to no limit. Best wishes, Mason |
