It doesn't salvage Bonds' violations by any means. It means it would be a joke if Selig now tried to suspend Bonds and now wave his finger at steroid users. Obviously that is hypocritical of Selig now. But it doesn't make what Bonds did any less bad.

It is not that difficult to but on 38 pounds of muscle and some fat without using steroids.

Sure. It is quite easy to put on 30+ pounds. I certainly think he did steroids. However, the fact that he gained weight and muscle is very weak evidence.

I think you misread. He gained 38 pounds in neck weight, it doesn't count the other weight on his body.

Assuming the weight of the bat doesn't change, physics 101 tells us that a faster bat will always have a greater force. There is no possible way a hitter could create more force while slowing their bat speed. It is probably true that after a ceartain point gaining muscle mass would decrease bat speed, but this would then also decrease the force.

This is the kind of crap I'm talking about. The newest thing is a quote that Bonds made in 1998 at Ken Griffey Jr's house for a dinner party were he bitched about McGwire & Canseco, said he was going to use some hardcore stuff, have 4 good seasons and quit before the stuff did damage.

The source is unrevealed, and gives a 50 word direct quote from Barry Bonds. This wasn't from some audiotape or anything.

Can you remember a direct 50 word quote made by anyone 8 years ago?

Actually the guy who wrote the book confirmed this quote with three people. There were 3 nike reps there along with Griffey. He was asked on Cold Pizza this morning if he talked to griffey about it, all he said was "Im not gonna reveal my sources"

Well, Griffey has already denied it. Once again though, who remembers a direct quote (this is directly quoted from Bonds) that is 8 years old? Remember, in 1998, Steroids talk was no big deal so this isn't some completely shocking statement that would stick with you for the rest of your life.
