[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] There is a plane (Boeing 777, prop plane, whatever) on a moving, conveyor-type runway. The runway moves in the opposite direction of the plane at the exact same speed as the plane's wheels. There is no wind. Can the plane take off? [/ QUOTE ] You beat me to it [/ QUOTE ] I think this is worded poorly, since if the conveyor is moving at the exact same speed as the plane's wheels then it will never move forward relative to the air (which it needs in order to take off) unless there is some kind of slippage. If there is perfect traction between the wheels and the conveyor then either a) the conditions set in the questions can not be met or b) the plane will never take off. |

If you are going to nitpick over the 'final' velocity, you should also take issue with: large truck and small car- my car is filled with lead and the truck evacuated, WTF? [/ QUOTE ] No one noticed this gem? |

Borodog would say that it obviously meant the velocity just prior to impact, since any other interpretation is dumb.
Also, the bend the arm one got me. I was thinking of un-bending, and answered pulley. |

If anyone is interested, I will post my latest test, administered this morning. I'd be interested to see what percentage of OOT could pass it.
Undergrad calculus based E&M for engineers. |

How old is 8th grade?
In the UK system that is 12-13 years old, but obv the US system means they are probably 5 or 52 or something random. Fwiw, the test wasnt amazingly worded in a few areas, but it wasnt hard to realise what they were looking for. I pulled 84% for a B. If there were more than 26 questions id average much higher though. Stuff like Meteoroids, Metamorphic rock is stuff you either know or dont and its been years since i studied anything like that. Im not sure if i got the Anarobic and Aerobic question wrong either. I know i got the rock and meteoroid questions wrong - i hemmed and hawed and i think i chose the right one, but if 84% = 3 wrong that was my 3rd. Generally the test was uber easy but it was all a case of either knowing it or not, few questions were based on logical thought. |
