let's be honest with OP. if you've seen any of his posts, he's an addict and a degen among degens. if he's not blowing his food money on low limit poker, he's railing the high stakes games on full tilt, giving NVG updates every ten minutes.

jimm, you are a gambler. you will likely be broke most of your life. there will be times where you will have a decent amount of cash from some type of gambling adventure, but you will quickly be back to busto.

you dont want to change. you get some sort of satisfaction from gambling, whether you win or lose. you probably wont ever be able to change that, as it is a chemical imbalance related to the situations you put yourself in.

i suggest you accept your life for what it is. try and avoid extremes, and for [censored] sake mate, learn to beat the micro limits. it's not as though it's a [censored] gauntlet of death, now is it?

so, accept your life for what it is, and try to spend more time appreciating other things and bettering yourself away from poker and in poker. even total degenerates can keep themselves fed and in action, i suggest you work on that.

also, you know you're taking the [censored] money. quit asking OOT for some sort of social validation that will somehow help you conscience taking the abandoned money. but i suggest you adamantly deny you ever took it, and quit making posts (likely from work?) about taking it in the future.

Ask your boss for permission to track down the lady to give her that money back.

If he gives permission, then do it.

If you both don't know where she is, give it to your boss.

If there was a tactful way to convey to him that you need the money, then do so.

Thanks. The lawyer I work for earns $2 million a year, however. It would be quite embarrassing telling her I didn't have money for food.

Incidentally she is WAY more careful with money than I am. Well, she spends on the big things like property, private school fees. But she doesn't throw money around AT ALL. And she would never gamble so much as a penny.

Okay, so as I said I told the agency I got paid twice.

I just got back from lunch with guy who is joint-founder of the agency.

He said they overpaid 15 people and by 4pm Friday I was the only one to report it.

Result:

Free lunch, involving two bottles of wine / starter / pizza / coffee.

He offers me $400 cash to steal the telephone phone list from the law firm where they've placed me and pass it on to him.

He says they need a new consultant, would I like a job with the agency since I seem perfect, it will pay much more than my current job? He arranges for me to have lunch again with the head of the agency in a week's time to discuss.

Result??!?!?

I do not believe your last little story. The odds are getting real large on the against side about one man encountering so many moral dilemmas. It does not matter to me what a man does to get the money to play poker. I've never judged others. I used to play with a guy who stole copper, aluminum, etc. at night. He'd be around the poker joint all day. One time this Art Professor who worked in metal figures got in a discussion with this thief about melting down varied metals. They both knew their stuff. If you are going to be a thief, be a better one. Quit looking at stealing on the small and figure some better thieving.

When I was really broke, we'd steal food from the richie's garage freezers. You can go into a supermarket and graze. I still do that, being cheap is my hobby. I also breeze through the Holiday Inn for free coffee, free big cookies, free apples, the Wall Street Journal and the local newspaper, herbal tea bags that I take home. If you dress nice, you can go to Happy Hours and hit the buffet and move on. At any motel that provides free breakfast, I stroll in and serve myself. If I am ever caught, I'll say I am just checking in. Around any casino, you can find food, food comps. If you are going to be broke, learn how to be broke. If you are going to be a thief, learn how to steal properly.
