[ QUOTE ] As far as the discussion on whther he was obligated to show his bluffs first: No. As those of us who play cash games have stated this is standard poker 101. When you get caught bluffing, you can simply say "you got it" and then muck your hand if you're giving up or turn it over if youre not. Standard live poker. [/ QUOTE ] fyp [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure why you thought my post needed fixing since everyone else who plays live like me agreed. |

When you get caught bluffing, you can simply say "you got it". If your opponent hesitates like he was calling you down with a weak hand (especially if there is a chance that it will be a tie) then you table them. Standard live poker. [/ QUOTE ]I seriously can't believe that this is even still being debated. You're 100% correct, but I assumed that everyone would know that on a poker forum. [/ QUOTE ] You would think so, right? But see ColdCash's post right above yours and see how someone with over 5500 posts can get it so wrong. |

Some of you guys are really grasping at straws for reasons to hate gold, which is random because there's plenty of legitimate reasons to dislike the guy. Personally I think he's kind of annoying but that's it. So many ppl (especially online) have such a deep hatred for him - don't really understand it.
Also it's abundantly clear that many people in this thread have never played live poker, or their live play is limited to $5 home games. |

So you're telling me if you bet and I call I'm obligated to show you my hand first as long as you say "you got it"?
And you're also telling me it's not a d-bag play to say "you got it" and then hold onto your cards until your opponent turns his over. Something can be "standard" and still be both wrong and douche baggy. From the tone of your posts I'm sure you're familiar with both. |

Wow there are so many retarded nits on this board. I hate to think how many absolute fish you nits have shown up by demanding that they show their trash. Your social ineptitude has probably cost you and your other tablemates thousands of bets.
When some fish says "you got it" on a river bluff, here is what you do: 1) immediately table your hand and smile 2) toke the dealer quickly 3) either stay nothing or say something light like "you had to bet there, it's the only way you could win" 4) sit back and wait to repeat |

[ QUOTE ] To me, it's standard delusion. He inflates himself to be a good player internally, but knows it's taboo to be cocky so he covers up his huge ego with self defeating comments he doesn't really believe are true. . . to which the outcome is a muddled and confused demeanor in the presence of people who see through his bull [/ QUOTE ] Nailed it. [/ QUOTE ] This is EXACTLY the impression I had too when I listened to the circuit interview. Btw I loved JG in HSP.. he played so bad it was comical. Almost as if he was doing it on purpose. Let's see: - versus Negreanu he gives off the tell he has nothing (shakes his head sincerely on the river card when he misses his draw) and then he bluffs at it for $20k anyway.. rofl - Calls Ramdin's preflop allin with KTs, knowing he was behind - Ramdin decided to go bluffy with his 96o by raising $8k preflop, and Gold completely butchered his AA by shoving. - The total rock at the table calls his raise - first hand the rock plays all night. Flop has all high cards so it hit the rock's hand 100%. Jamie bluffs the turn anyway, and then, unbelievable, decided to bluff the river again with 1/4 (!) pot bet! lol? - etc I actually think JG isn't as bad as he played here. Looked like he was super intimidated and mainly wanted affirmation so he played like total crap or something. |
