Seadood, the point is that Brady has played similar or worse to Peyton in the playoffs, but his D and ST have won, almost despite him in some games.

Hmm, not sure I agree here. In the last two years Peyton has played pretty well, but prior to that he'd really underperformed in the playoffs. Brady hasn't been spectacular on paper, but how can you argue with his performance, especially late in the games?

You mean how he occasionally drives his team a few yards for field goals?

Wow..does anyone think this post would be here if the Colts don't come back last week against the Pats? I think Payton Manning is one of the best now, and will be one of top three QBs ever - probably the best.

I am just suprised how much people get pulled down lower than they deserve when they lose (i.e Romo), and how they get pumped up higher than may be warranted when they win (i.e Romo).

I realize we are talking about Manning's whole career here, but this same post would be about Brady if not for a few points last week.

I'm almost certain that the majority (like, nearly all) who are saying Manning is the best would've been saying the same two weeks ago.

Tom Brady makes Andrew Walter look graceful in the pocket. discuss.

[/ QUOTE ]

its not pretty but he is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league WITHIN the pocket, he's extremely deft at avoiding rushers with a simple sidestep

I realize he would be and I agree. I'm just saying that if Brady has a game-winning drive, the "Brady is God" posts would dominate, and nothing positive would be said about Manning. I'm glad Manning is getting credit, just find it fickle how it happens (or doesn't happen).

After all....is anyone talking about whether LT is going to be one of the best RBs ever? No. But he's just as good as he was two weeks ago. He's yesterday's news now, though.

I just feel lucky that I'm getting to watch one the best linebackers ever (Urlacher), one of the best RBs ever (LT) and one of the best QBs ever (Manning). It's all good.

I agree, the only difference is now in places outside of 2p2 where most people aren't familiar with football outsiders Peyton is getting more credit.

Jack how do you come to this conclusion?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not Jack, but Manning's Adjusted Yards/Pass([Yards+10*Touchdowns-45*Interceptions]/Attempts) in playoffs is 6.5, whereas Brady's is 6.3. At worst, they've performed similarly in the playoffs, yet Manning is 6-6 and Brady is 12-2.

I think it's a bit wrong to analyze it like this, though. if you go game by game, you'll find Brady has played a higher % of good games. Manning has been absolutely lights out a few times (Denver, KC) which drives his total stats up.

The difference is still the Pats aren't as dependant on Brady for wins while the Colts are for Manning. It's a rarity (I know it happened twice in the playoffs) for Manning to play horribly and the Colts to win while Brady in the past has gotten the benefit of a top 10 D and a good / very good Special teams unit on top of a pretty solid O.

Personally I think Brady is still one of the best big time QBs ever, I just think he has more wiggle room in wins than some of his peers near the top.
