Oh, I forgot this one.

We were having a family barbecue at a park (called Baskin) in Las Vegas. Half way through our dinner (this was around twilight) a guy walks over wearing a light blue suit with light blue shirt and tennis shoes. He asks for a match so we give him one. He says thanks and leaves. It was the guy who plays Stallone's brother-in-law in the Rocky movies.

When I was a little kid, a went with my Dad on a business trip in Asia. We stop by Manila where my Dad plays golf at a country club called Wack Wack. We're eating and this guy walks past us. He was wearing brown pants and a white Polo t-shirt and golf shoes. It was Ferdinand Marcos, the dictator. Less than an hour later we're at the practice putting green. Marcos was there with the golfer Gary Player. We overhear their conversation.

Player:"Are you sure you want to play a round? It looks like it's about to rain."
Marcos: "No, it's not gonna rain."
Player: "Is that a weather forecast or a Presidential Decree?"
Laughter from everyone.

The weird thing was that Marcos only had two bodyguards and they were very small. You would think a dictator would have at least 50 bodyguards but he only had two of them.

A friend of mine used to teach a spinning class, one time I accompanied her and Nicole Kidman was in the class as well... She was really bad at spinning.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought spinning was riding a stationary bike really fast? how could she be bad at that?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it's usually an interval exercise, which differentiates it from just riding a stationary bike, and she acted as if she were riding a stationary bike... Same pace the entire time. It was pretty weird, actually.

I was thinking more along the lines of this:

Straw into gold, or whatever.

I worked for a summer at a sleep away camp and made friends with a girl who lived in California. After camp had ended, a few of us counselors made plans to go visit her in LA and 5 of us went to go see the Price Is Right.

During the commercial breaks, you can ask Bob Barker questions for 2-3 minutes while they set up the next pricing game. My friend who lives in California raised her hand and asked if they had ever had a group of camp counselors on the show before. Bob thought for a moment and said that he didn't think so and thought it was neat that we were at the show. Then, for some reason, he pointed at me asked, "I bet you're the swimming instructor."

At the time, I couldn't quite tell that he was pointing at me, because he was about 10-15 yards away on the stage, but I was pretty sure he was so I had to think quickly for something to say in front of 300 other people. The best I could do was, "Me? No, I can't even swim!"

For the record, I can swim.

I was at a hotel in Denver for a seminar during one of the Avs-Wings playoff series, 97 I think. The Red Wings were staying at the same hotel and having meetings during the day. I went up to Scotty Bowman in the lobby and wished him luck and shook his hand. He said thanks. I replied that he was going to need it because the Avs were going to kick their ass. He laughed, but Yzerman was standing next to him and gave me a mean look. I laughed too. Yzerman just glared.

I also hit golf balls on the range with Terrell Davis and his nephew. Terrell was a big hitter. His nephew was piss poor. He wanted to concentrate on his game and I respected that. He was cool.

Met Josh Arieh at the Las Vegas airport. I was passing through the metal detector and noticed some dude standing behind me wearing Bodog from head to toe. I had another look and it was Josh Arieh.

I asked him to sign my dealer puck, and we rode the train/shuttle, the whole time he was talking with my 5 year old niece. From that point on, whenever we see Josh Arieh on TV my niece stands up and shouts, "It's Josh!"

When I was out in San Fransisco I ran into David Ortiz a in really small (like 10 tables) Chinese food restaurant. It was the best Chinese food I've ever had(we got a recommendation from a friend we have out there) and we got David Ortiz's autograph but he wasn't to pleased to be identified in front of the other people in the restaurant even though he was wearing easily $100,000 in jewelery and had two 20ish chicks with him.

I met Phil Hellmuth when he came back to Madison to do a book signing. Chatted with him a bit and got a picture with him. He was exactly how he is on TV--kind of douchey but didn't come off as a huge ass.

I met both Howard Dean and John Edwards when they campaigned in Wisconsin in 2004.

It's funny that one of the first posts talked about Mick Foley and how he was a big Twins fan. My friend and I went to a Twins/Yankees game with our dads, and Mick Foley was taking BP with the team before the game. He wasn't too bad, actually. A little later, I got up to grab something to eat, and while I was waiting in line he walked by. I jumped out of line and got to shake his hand. He seemed like a nice guy.

Bonus sorta-related-to-celebrity-story: My uncle and I were talking about Lost over Thanksgiving, and it turns out his sister is married to Terry O'Quinn (Locke). My uncle said they have family gettogethers together, and they've talked about the show a few times. He said that Evangeline Lilly is a bitch off-set (which sucks) and that Josh Halloway is a cool guy. He also told my uncle a story about smoking a joint with Harrison Ford.

Iggy, I'm curious what bar you met Cuban at.

Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) lives in my hometown and I've met him on several occasions. He his hands down one of the stupidest human beings I have ever met and this unfortunate reality is the reason he is not a political superstar.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I'm friends with a guy who's a fairly well-known graffiti artist. He writes under the name Reke.

My friend's dad grew up in Pittsburgh and his family was friends with the Marinos. He claims he and his older brothers would always [censored] with a young Dan Marino when playing football until he cried.

brent musburger, sportscaster, airport, ok for a grumpy old guy.

tito ortiz at the hard rock, very nice guy, very hot gf.

mats wilander, former world no. 1 tennis player, nice, very swedish.

huey lewis in a convience store, he was drunk, nice guy.

howie long has a place on the lake near us, great guy.

blackjack with john smoltz (braves pitcher) super nice and accomadating guy even when dealing with some jackasses.

blackjack with randy johnson (yankees pitcher) not so cool.

had a friendship (sorta) with james lee burke the author. we worked out at the same gym same time, became friendly. he loaned me some old info about alcatraz or something of interest and i gave him the soundtrack to titanic, he wanted it or something and it was his b-day i think. i returned his materials to the front desk at the gym but i think they lost them and we sort of broke up (like jerry seinfeld and keith hernandez) lol, strange.

dave dickenson (all the canandian football fans will know him) lived next to each other in college and worked at the same bar. maybe the nicest guy of all time. only semi famous though.

all the poker players that you can possibly think of.......
famous to some, but it still make me chuckle.

ray zee and el d. are far and away the cream of the crop.

but then again we knew that.

cheers. J.
