It looks like people are just waiting for auctions that are about to end and then making fake bids. This really messes up the auction as the seller can then either go back to the last bid, which is no probably much lower than the actual number he/she would get if the auction proceeded normally, or relist and it happens again. It seems like people are just frustrated at the lack of unit and the scalpers.

The biggest problem I see with the cash-in-hand approach is theft. You're basically walking up to people and saying "I have at least a couple grand and maybe more in cash on my person." Also, it's why craigslist should be the preferred method of sale. |

This one had one of $99,999,999.00 It looks like it's going to be a nightmare to sell these on ebay so in that way I'm glad I didn't get one. |

Step 1. Create 3 accounts.
Step 2. Bid for PS3 at a price you want (say 2k) Step 3. Use other 2 accounts to bid 15k and keep out bidding each other. Step 4. Right before auction ends, retract bids for the other 2 accounts. Step 5. Buy PS3 at original bid. Step 6. PROFIT!!! |

Isn't there an option for only allowing pre-approved bidders? It shouldn't be that hard to beat the people screwing with the auctions.

One went for US $89,000,100.00 ?
Aren't the bids legally binding? I wonder if that guy would pursue the $89 million bidder and try to "settle" for a smaller amount. THAT WOULD BE NEWS! |
