His Purpleness:
[ QUOTE ] I think for most people it's When Doves Cry, even though that's not close to being my personal favorite ("When You Were Mine," anyone?) [/ QUOTE ] "When You Were Mine" [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] But sig. has to be "Purple Rain". Depeche Mode: "Master and Servant" Pretenders: [ QUOTE ] Pretenders has got to be I'll Stand By You, how is that even close to being close [/ QUOTE ] "Brass in pocket" Bowie: [ QUOTE ] Bowie is Changes imo. [/ QUOTE ] "Space Oddity" Queen: "Bohemian Rhapsody" |

[ QUOTE ]
The Kinks is only complicated by "Lola" but I do think "You Really Got Me" is their main song Re: For Those About to Rock, etc, Jasper, respeck for your music knowledge and everything but do you have downs syndrome? Seriously if there is any band that has a lock on one song it is AC/DC. NT [/ QUOTE ] OK. I'll give you that one. I think part of the problem for bands that have very long histories is that it kind of depends when you became a fan. To me Brass in Pocket is a no brainer, but for someone in their 30's or younger it might be I'll stand by you. |

[ QUOTE ] ] One of the tougher ones is Public Enemy.. Fight The Power or Bring the Noise? [/ QUOTE ] Um...Don't Believe the Hype ??? [/ QUOTE ] Bring the Noise was a good cross genre hit, along with being featured on Tony Hawk video game.. Fight the Power is like their "anthem" if they had one, Don't Believe the hype is good but I immediately think those two first cuz of pop.culture tie ins and catchier choruses. |

Steve Earle--Guitar Town or Copperhead Road?
What is Bob Dylan's signature song? Like a Rolling Stone? |

Like A Rolling Stone is probably the best Dylan answer where someone else didn't do a more famous version of it. Others to consider would be Tangled Up in Blue, Forever Young, Rainy Day Women.
Didn't Rolling Stone call it the greatest rock song ever? In that case hard to argue against it. Others: Willie: Crazy JB: I Feel Good Al: Tired of Being Alone Otis: Dock of the Bay War: Low Rider NT |

Steve Earle--Guitar Town or Copperhead Road? What is Bob Dylan's signature song? Like a Rolling Stone? [/ QUOTE ] I was going to put Like A Rolling Stone.. Then I erased realizing that I've probably haven't listened to a couple (dozen) albums that may have had a more essential/popular Dylan song in its day. |
