[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Why is it that I could name virtually every state on a US map, while probaby less than 10% of Americans could name 5 provinces. [/ QUOTE ] Because honestly we don't care much about Canada. [/ QUOTE ] I think there is a big difference between "caring" and just being a generally informed person. I don't see how you can have a country that borders you (especially if you are in a northern state) and not out of curiosity looked at a map of these huge provinces and had some clue of where they are and what they are called. It would be like me in Edmonton not having an idea where Montana, Idaho, and Washington are. That is mind boggling. [/ QUOTE ] Hey man, I'm from Edmonton too, and I heard Lon mispronounce 'Regina' also, but I seriously didn't give a crap. I mean, come on, it's a fairly honest mistake. Also, where do you get the impression that Regina is a 'fairly large' city. Are there even 200,000 people there? That's like, barely a suburb of an American city. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Another problem with Canada. No sense of humor. [/ QUOTE ] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_comedians [/ QUOTE ] There's a reason half those names aren't recognizable, and the half that are live here now. Let's see if you can figure it out. [/ QUOTE ] Hmmm. Lets see. They want to make a lot of money so they go where they can be paid the most. [/ QUOTE ] Denial aint just a river in Egypt, it's also a small city in Canada! But much like the WNBA, nobody in America cares. |

[ QUOTE ] OP, I can sorta see your point about the provinces, but why on earth would we concern ourselves with the pronounciation of Regina? Of what importance is it? When would it ever come up? I'm not even sure I pronounce Helena, MT correctly, never mind Canada. [/ QUOTE ] Because Helena is a hick town in Montana, while Regina is the capital of a province. It would be like an announcer on a Canadian poker show saying a player was from Tuckson, Arizona or San Josie, California. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't Helena the capitol of Montana? [ QUOTE ] Jasper, How much do you know about the other closest country too you... Greenland. [/ QUOTE ] The second closest country to Canada is actually France. Look it up. |

Here's a properly scaled version of your avatar.
I'm not Canadian, so it only took me 1 minute to do it. |

Z-O-M-G!!! I now see you are some weird Candian troll or something, because honestly, it's been said in about a million different ways - we here in the US do not care at all about stuff in Canada. No one cares. It's not important. At all. To us. In the U.S. -Al [/ QUOTE ] Maybe you don't care but on 911 there were LOTS of your fellow Americans who did care about Canada. When the US shut down its airpspace after the Twin Towers were hit, we were good neighbours....see below. Sept 11, 2001 9:45: United States airspace is shut down. No civilian aircraft are allowed to take off, and all aircraft in flight are ordered to land at the nearest airport as soon as practical. All international flights headed for the U.S. are redirected to Canada. Transport Canada, the Canadian transportation agency, follows the American lead and closes down their airspace. The FAA announces that civilian flights are suspended until at least noon September 12, while Transport Canada gives similar orders, but until further notice, to take in diverted U.S.-bound international flights, launching the agency's "Operation Yellow Ribbon." Canada took in 255 US-bound flights during Operation Yellow Ribbon, and we were glad to do so for our southern neighbours. Keep in mind we had no idea what dangerous people may still have been on some of the planes we took. We were asked to help out the USA, and we did. You might want to think about the significance of our long standing relationship as allies before your trash us. For many Americans, our Canadian cities and citizens provided a warm and welcoming home during a very difficult time for you folks in the US. |

In Canada, the Al Jazeera network is beamed into every home but watching CNN and ESPN is against the law.
Explain to me again why anyone should care about your communist cesspool of a country? A country where watching some television stations is a criminal act and "hate" speech can get you a few years in the gulag? |

I don't know ANYONE in Canada who does NOT have access to CNN (either though Cable, Starchoice, or Expressview). How in heck do think we get AC 360 and Larry King.. As for Al Jazerra, I don't know ANY homes that have it. And you think we are commies too...lol |

If you can sound out Puyallup correctly for me I'll be on your side here. It's a city in Washington, near Tacoma. I've never heard a spotscaster say it correctly. I really hope you get it wrong here. Being on your side would really suck.
