El D, I swear to G_d most of your threads in this forum are to test the IQ of the respondents... This may or may not qualify, but I throw out Kevin Costner in "No Way Out". I don't think anyone had heard of the dude prior to that but he had a lead role alongside Gene Hackman and (a dead) Sean Young. Pretty big breakout performance, and arguably his best, "Bull Durham" and "Dances With Wolves" being the others that come to mind. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This should not be a "breakout" movie that this person is known for - for example "Ed Burns in Brothers McMullen" does not qualify. Really, they should usually not even have a major part in the film. [/ QUOTE ] |

[ QUOTE ] Elijah Wood was in Back to the Future 2. He is the kid playing the arcade game with the gun. "You have to use your hands?! This game is for babies." (Memory is hazy. I think it's his friend that says this line.) [/ QUOTE ] Wait a minute, ZeeJustin? [/ QUOTE ] ROFL. |

Tobey Maguire in noted 2-hour advertisement for Super Mario Bros. 3, The Wizard.
It's a well-known movie in my demographic, at least. |

Man, just thinking of Scorsese movies here. Forest Whitaker has a cameo hustling Paul Newman in The Color of Money, and John Turturro has just like the tiniest bit of a role, no speaking, in Raging Bull, all the way back in 1980.

Also, Dominc Chianese (Junior Soprano from the Sopranos) was in Godfather 2 (playing Johnny Ola).
And, until he died, I didn't realize that Young Clemenza in Godfather 2 also played Billy Crystal's best friend in When Harry Met Sally. (Bruno Kirby). |

John Travolta in "Carrie." He plays a long blond haired quarterback who is partly responsible for Carrie getting Blood poured all over her. He actually has a pretty significant role, but still this is before Saturday Night Fever when he really got big, and then went into obscurity for many years.
