Evan,

You can post on 2p2, but not check your email at work?

OTB

Uh, yea.

Just seems odd to me that they'd block gmail/hotmail etc., but allow something through that's primarily a gambling site.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same boat here. The firewall blocks twoplustwo as well, but apparently not the forumserver address, so I can't read the main site, but I can read the forums. No hotmail(msn), yahoo, or gmail.

Haha, awesome. I don't think I've ever used a gmail invite. Doesn't everyone have gmail these days?

[/ QUOTE ]

I never got it. It seemed silly to get yet another e-mail address...

There's a lot of good things I really like about gmail that make it different than most email services.

Can't access any outside email from work.

[/ QUOTE ]

Seriously, where do you work? China?

[/ QUOTE ]
Everyone I know that works at a financial services firm has the same restriction. I know people at Goldman, Lehman, Credit Suise and a few others that can only check work email.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why? Afraid you'll discuss secrets on the other e-mail?

[/ QUOTE ]
As Daver already mentioned, company email is logged while outside email isn't. His example of a trader was good, as were others that mentioned discussing any private information. I don't have access to anything that would really matter to anyone here, but there are still things that my company doesn't want to be public and it's a lot harder to tell if someone's published them if you allow access to outside email accounts.

[/ QUOTE ]

But PM'ing them on the forum, completely legit.

I'm sure they'd prefer that twoplustwo was blocked. I'm guessing that they don't know about it and the filters don't catch it because the name and description seem relatively harmless.
