Yeah its pouring due west of Flushing here in Jersey. And it's headed that way. Only way they get this game back is if they take the field after 11.

Contreras? Really? (sorry just getting back from vacation).
Uggh...I guess he would be a little better than Sosa who they could and should move into the bullpen to replace Sele (whom Willie mysteriously uses even less than Darren Oliver last year). I dunno, Contreras is making 9m this year and 10m next year. I guess if money is no object (which it certainly seems that way) this wouldn't be terrible, this is also assuming the Mets don't give up a top prospect. Pedro is still on schedule too right? So what do you do then, move a guy getting paid 10m a year as a starter to long relief? I just can't see them moving Maine or Perez to the bullpen. I just can't see this trade being a huge difference maker either. 1-2 wins tops? |

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Mets are "hot on the trail of landing" Jose Contreras.
If rumors of Mark Buehrle remaining in Chicago are correct, Contreras could be moved instead. "It's just the checking-in stage right now," Mets general manager Omar Minaya said. Source - chicago sun times http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...LB&id=3582 |

Sosa and Contreras are basically the same thing considering Contreras is ancient and Sosa appears revived. James |

don't really like this trade at all...also, how do the mets match up that salary and if not, i would guess it would cost them a good prospect to get it done and on top of that, i don't want him replacing sosa...

[/ QUOTE ] I agree that Sosa and Contreras are pretty much equals right now. I only thought that it would be a 1 or 2 win difference because I assume that Sosa would replace Sele in the bullpen and that Willie might actually use Sosa in a few late inning spots instead of Schoeneweis or Mota, thus gaining a win or perhaps two. Still think I'm off base? I guess all of my "assumptions" would have to come true and that's another story. |
