Oh, but can I add that it pays better than any job I've had and is more satisfying than any job I've had.

I just would imagine there are more satisfying things out there that I have not done.

2,4

If you define "living" as 50k and all I did was play poker, it would be no problem but I would hate it about as much as most jobs at a similar salary with no human interaction.

The best thing about playing for recreation rather than professionally is I don't have to care if I make any money. I can donk around, play 200 STTs, a few MTTs, some real live, some stupid home games, and really enjoy playing. Some months I make $5k, some 0 or less. I think a lot of people have a few good months where they put in a decent amount of play and win, then think about "going pro." They don't realize in order to count on the income, you have to play a whole lot all the time and you can't take risks with your bankroll. It gets a lot less fun when you realize a shot a low buy-in WSOP event is still probably your monthly nut.

I agree with Eagles about Cit and BBV.
Init2winit.
I just read your question so I don't know if this was already addressed. It depends on your situation in life. For instance right now as a student I can probably (hopefully) make $100k a year. As a student that is awesome, however I don't want to be grinding SNGs when I'm 35. Look at Slim's post for instance, I'm pretty sure he is a rocket scientist, and that must be satisfying, good paying, intellectually stimulating work.

The question you should be asking in addition to
[quote On a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to make your living at poker? Also 1-10 scale, how satisfying is it?

Is
How hard/satisfying would it be too make a living not playing poker?
