Anyone have any ideas on how to get your confidence back if you're in a 14 buy-in downswing (pretty much straight down for 3 weeks now)?

I see the nuts under every bed and quit playing and everytime I have convinced myself that they won't have the nuts everytime and start playing again I run into another villian who has the nuts.

check PT to see what sitautions you are losing $$ in. In other words, do they tend to be in 3-bet pots, when you are the pfr, when they are the pfr, blind v. blind, limped pots, etc.?

so don't just look at the cards, but the situations. i did that once and i realize that like 90% of my big losing hands were in pots where i was the pfr and villain called my c-bet (not raised it).

I just moved down a level for a while, A) to rebuild some of my roll, and B) to gain some confidence back. It's working so far, I just have jump back up to my normal stakes again

Villain is 21.8/12.3/2.93

This is the fourth preflop all-in I get today with KK and all 4 were vs Aces. Please tell me this is super standard.

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG raises to $0.75, Hero raises to $2.25, 4 folds, UTG raises to $4.75, Hero raises all-in $38.3, UTG calls all-in $19.4.
Uncalled bets: $14.15 returned to Hero.

Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($0.7, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $48.65)

Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($0.7, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $48.65)

River: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.7, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $48.65)

what level do you play?

whenever i run really bad like this i like to take a break from everything poker... no forums, books, no poker period. then after a time you will feel yourself settle down(1day 2days, a week).

come on the forums read and grunch hhs from the level/below you play.
read some of the sticy arcticls, my personal fav; pokey's 'guide to hand reading' & and cbloom's 'what matters and what doesn't'.
Review your sessions... pick a few winning ones and do an entire review hand for hand... do the same with a few losing ones.
finally review biggest individual winning and losing hands.
Also i like to read any article i can find on tilt and image. there's one on pocket fives called 'an untouched state of mind' that i like.

Btw when reviewing always start and end with the good sessions.
try to never tell a bad beat story... just remember it long enough to pick up your mouse(i have a nice squeeze ball/dice from PP that can be thrown at the wall with a great deal of force and not break anything ) and make a note on villian then move on.
ok finally... when you sit down to play always be optimitic; look around at the opponents and note the stack sizes or anthing about them. then make a statement aloud that your gonna 'bust'em up' a la CR.

works for me.

I was in the process of moving up to NL50 (about 10k hands in) but dropped down to NL25 to make up for some money. I didn't really feel that I was outclassed at NL50, just wanted to take off some of the variance by dropping down. I have beaten NL25 for 7 or so PTBB/100 for 20k hands before so I felt comfortable using NL25 as a safety net for NL50.

BTW, my problems are only on Full Tilt. I maintained NL50 on stars and I'm still quite confident there (10PTBB/100 but smaller sample size as I want to clear my FTP bonus).

Yes, this is good advice. I should have stayed away longer so the first bad beat wouldn't put me on tilt.

Tilt isn't really a problem for me as I have a very nitty bankroll management and the money doesn't really mean much to me. The only tilt situations I had during that stretch was when I was getting repeatedly stacked with the best hand and threw another buy-in in with strong but not nuts holdings (think TPTK pushing against a float).

Yeah, I hate telling bad beat stories and held off on those during my downswing until about -10 buy-ins. After it went down even further I just needed some advice and even confirmation of obvious plays.

Thanks, also to the other posters and those, who have tried to help me in the last two days.
