Stupid question: is Bd4 a bad move for curtains regardless of our move? I really am not good at analyzing postitions, but that does not look good for us.

...Kd6 is very bad, because Kf5 and then Bd4 = dead pawns. ...Ke6 is the only good alternative.

40...Kd6 41.Bd4 g6 42.Be5+ Ke6 43.f4 looks drawish. If 43...f5+ 44.gxf5 gxf5 45.Kf3 will draw by playing g4, and sacrificing his bishop for our last pawn. The alternative is to allow white to play f5+ and that doesn't look any better.

If 40...Ke6 41.Bd4 g6 42.f4 looks similar.

I don't see any way to play for a win any more.

Bd4 hangs the bishop since we get to move Kd5 after Kf5. There is no time for white to get this bishop to the right diagonal.

Right, the correct way would be to have a second poll for the draw offer. If we decide to offer one, it should be accompanied by a move, in case curtains wishes to decline.

40.-Kd6 41.Bd4 g6 42.Be5+ Kc5 might be a way to play for a win, it certainly entails some risk, but since we have an "escape route" there with 42.-Ke6 we can delay the decision of taking the draw until then. 41.Kf5 Kd5 looks really terrible for White to me.

Too risky I think, he has 43.Bb2 followed by Ke5, Kf6, etc.
