I would still like to know how you can start one thread writing "my mom is a 57 y.o. lady" and a second one "my mom is 55" ?

Seems very strange to me....

Whats the big deal, I don't know exactly how old my mother is either.

I can't believe a 43 hour session set off the "red flag" bot detection and it was not investigated further before a ban was enforced.

I can understand just how angry Teddy and his Mom would have been, not being given all the details and reasoning. In Jeff's defense I understand how easy it is to "deal" with an issue and move on, but when Teddy brought to their attention these threads and all his emails it should have set off some alarm bells in Jeff's head to take a better look. Most cheats wouldn't spend that much time and effort defending their case. Another 5 minutes looking at the session data could have fixed this days ago.

TeddyFBI you can send your Mom to me any time and I will give her a $100 bonus that she should have received for putting up with all of this. I know my mother would have been in tears after such an ordeal.

In any case, I am glad to see it finally resolved.

Wow, I haven't read all the posts in theses threads, but teddy has a 56 y.o. mother that knows nothing about computers and plays 43 hour sessions?

SuperMom or something?

lee, one of the reasons i have migrated almost exclusively to stars is because of the customer service. i dont have to tell you that youre by far the best in the biz. your presence on the boards here has always been reassuring and im glad you replied.

id like to bring up a few points. whether you address them in this email or not is up to you.

1. We're improving our tools for better reliability. We learned some specific things from Teddy's mom's situation. A couple of things that used to send up a big red flag that says "BOT!" now send up a small yellow pennant that says "um, bot?"

one major point that jeff continually brought up in email was the 46 or 36 or whatever hours that were played under the account. it seems as if there was a software glitch or human error in this case rather than a simple "yellow flag" turning into a "red flag."

2. We are improving peer review and escalation procedures. Obviously, we still have to catch the real bots, but we want to reduce the false positives. And if we do get an initial false positive, we have a review process that will keep it from going too far before it gets caught.

the is one of the more important things to me. i was deeply alarmed to read the emails where jeff stated that he was the end-all-be-all voice of bot accusation at stars and there would be no further discussion at the company. i am greatly relieved to hear measures are in place for some checks and balances.

in the past ive trusted stars reputation and i trust this was a major oversight on procedure that will be corrected. thank you for replying to this thread.

bwana

Nice job Stars. I still don't think Lee needs to appologize for trusting Jeff's word. Like someone else mentioned, managers have to take the word of their employees on faith that their employees know what they are doing. In the end, Lee seems to have done what was necessary to fix an obvious problem. All in all, good job Stars. Now if only I wouldn't run so bad at the site I would play there more often.

You know, I think we all owe Teddy a big deal of thanks here.

If this situation had not occured, and Teddy didn't go through all the steps to make things right, someone who doesn't visit the zoo or even one of us could have been falsely accused of cheating and have the funds confiscated.

I dare say that what Teddy did created a huge revolution on how customers (wrongly) in question of cheating are treated.
