I used to enjoy participitaing in Sports-related OOT threads, but I don't think I go into the "Sporting Events" forum more than twice a month. |

fyi chuck weinstock is off for like 2 weeks, so it's probably not even possible for something to happen before then. plenty of time to discuss things. |

[ QUOTE ] Tell me why we're worried about the whiners who are scared of OOT? [/ QUOTE ] also, how lame is it that there are people "SCARED" of OOT, an internet forum. is it really so difficult to skip over the threads that seem like they might not interest you? I really don't get the "afraid" thing. [/ QUOTE ] Good post. |

DB, you're one of my favorite posters on this forum - clever, concise, etc. I'm sure that's why you went from zero to mod in about 6.4 seconds (well, the fact that you make several hundred posts per day probably didn't hurt either).
But this whole thing reeks of an agenda by you, for reasons you've already stated. Douchebags post lame topics that push your handiwork into the abyss. Frustrating, I'm sure, but to create a whole separate forum to keep your work near the top is not +EV. Breaking off politics was obviously necessary. The sports forum is nice to have because otherwise those topics would get buried, quickly. I have no idea why OOT at the time forced that agenda, though. Cliff's Notes: terrible idea. EDIT: mods who are afraid of this forum? WTF? Why would anyone admit that? |

diebitter,
you are aware that there are numerous websites and forums that are specifically for film discussion where your reviews and whatnot may receive the greater exposure i assume you are wanting. chud.com and rottentomatoes for example. if your content gets buried, either accept it, or create better content. whining about buried content however is lame. i personally see the merits of a split, but am fine with the way things are now. then again i don't really care. part of what makes the art and entertainment threads in here great is the wide exposure and random different responses. put them elsewhere and there is no way they will be as good. |

EDIT: mods who are afraid of this forum? WTF? Why would anyone admit that? [/ QUOTE ] Because there are a lot of mods who think that being a mod makes them special and in OOT, they get treated just like everyone else. |

But this whole thing reeks of an agenda by you, for reasons you've already stated [/ QUOTE ] Just to state my case here, I did not raise this proposal in any way. But, by God, I'm running with it. I do believe what I'm saying here, and I see no problem with being an advocate of the 'split', and more than it's a problem for any of you advocating against it. And I'm pretty sure I'm mostly alone, and that's fine. I've been straight and direct with my arguments, and I was expected to be insulted and shouted down by a few posters, but I'm pretty glad to say, that hasn't happened. You've all been pretty cool and said why you don't like the idea rather than go for me, so I'm glad to say I was wrong in my assumptions on that, at least. Anyway, I've said all I think I can on this subject in this forum. If it gets raised in forum suggestions, I'll maybe make the same case there, but I'm about finished with my reasons/advocacy in OOT. |

if your content gets buried, either accept it.. [/ QUOTE ] I did accept it, and cut back heavily on contributing any. THAT'S THE POINT! If a maniac like me tires of it, what do you think it does to normal posters? |

I actually think it's fine provided that there's no lame "no poker in OOT" hard-and-fast line that gets drawn.
For example, if someone posts a poll of "best movie villain of all time", that's likely more of an OOT topic than A&E. By the use of the A&E title, I'd think it would be more for serious discussion and reviews than OOTish silliness. As long as items like this are accomadated, then I don't see a huge problem. But if suddenly "best music video of all time", or "which desperate housewife would you most like to do" ends up in A&E instead of OOT, I think you'll end up with irritated people in BOTH forums. |
