[ QUOTE ]
3x fellony -> 30 years (California). Other similar statutes in other states. You talked about some of the nicer guys in prison served life+ -- do you believe they should stay there forever, or should there be a possibility for most prisoners to get out at one (very distant) point? [/ QUOTE ] That's what I thought you were refering to. I'm pretty sure there aren't many states that have that. I know Virginia doesn't, because I have three felonies. It's obviously retarded and isn't justice in any way. I think it would be good to have a very thorough review of an inmate every so often. Virginia no longer has parole, but alot of states do. I think if the state allows parole, every inmate (with the exception of death row, if it applies) should be eligible for parole at some point. A very detailed review of what they've done while locked up would be necessary. It's hard to imagine how I would feel if the murderer of one of my family members was paroled, but I think there are cases where people should be given another chance. |

Thank you for the insight.
Although I would probably be of another opinion of personally faced with the murderer of a family member being released, I have some issues with locking humans up and throwing away the key. As for the death row, I am not morally opposed to it, however it should not be used as history has proven that innocent people do get convicted (and executed). That said, no need to derail this excellent thread with politics, just curious as to your view since you have met and lived with many of these "abominations". On a sidenote, how many cons serving life+ maintain their innocense? |

Yeah, it's a tough subject, and I can't honestly say how i'd feel... "I have some issues with locking humans up and throwing away the key. True... like I said, i'm not sure what I think of this, really. "On a sidenote, how many cons serving life+ maintain their innocense?" I would say somewhere around 60-65%... but that's only of the ones I met. |

"not having any..internet, and having to listen to people talk about politics as if they actually know what they were talking about"
If you have live people talking about politics and not know what they are talking about, what do you need the internet for |

Then I get out and find out that party split them. I'll shut up now, out of fear of the thread being deleted. |

if you have investments prior to going inside, are you allowed to manage them from within the prison?

There are just so many variables to consider when deciding a man's fate. |
