Jigsaws: cool, I missed that part of your earlier post(s). Hand from 100/200 last night in Vegas, I raise A2o on button, 2+2 TAG type 3 bets SB and has played a lot with me, knows who I am here, etc. Flop is 346 he bets I call. Turn 2 he bets I call. River 9, he checks, I tank briefly and value bet and get called and MHIG. Maybe standard online but turned some heads in a live game. -DeathDonkey [/ QUOTE ] Standard. |

[13:10] Entity: I think it's easier to learn to play poker by playing too many hands to start, then trimming it down, then going back to full on lagginess

Ok maybe standard, if so all you dumb guys should be out here getting rich in games where they think you insane to value bet bottom pair here.
ship it pls: I'd quickly call a checkraise. PJ: I read Stox' book on the plane ride over here actually, the hands with Stox were very useful to me, I glossed over all the tables. I posted a few more random hands in my blog this morning that I forgot to copy here and now I'm too lazy so consider this a reason to read there to see how I put in 6 bb against flopped quads and still had outs. -DeathDonkey |

DD, I'm pretty sure this is a wildly -ev play against a solid non-tilting 2p2er. Not saying I could get away from the ducks here either, just that I am pretty confident its a sucker play. |

Won three hands the other day where I hit a big hand on the river. First hand, I told my opponent I had the nut flush; second hand, I told my opponent I had the nut straigh; 3rd hand I didn't know what I had.
1) A bunch of limpers, including a 2+2er on the button; I raise, saying that to not raise would be "a crime against humanity." A 3rd club comes on the river, so my oponent knows exactly what I have. 2) On the turn, board is 9-8-7-5. My opponent bets, and I say, "Ok, he made straight, maybe I can make one too." Turn is a jack, I bet, my opponent disgustedly calls, I show Q-T, he shows pocket 6s. 3) I have pocket 7s. I bet a 3-3-2 flop, my opponent raises. Turn comes a 9. I check and the floorman comes over to take care of some business with the dealer. I am in seat 9 and my opponent in seat 2, the floorman is blocking my vision of her. The dealer now asks me to act. I say I already checked, I check. The floorman now walks away and I see my opponent check behind. I sit like an idiot and now realize the river card has alrady been dealt and I have also checked the river. Which was a 7. |

[/ QUOTE ] You need to flip your hand over first and say, "straight" I've seen it, it works, ask SurfDoc. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. I still think that is an angle shoot Joe. Last night we witnessed a hand where the river ended up with some board like A468J. On the river Ernesto bets and gets called by some older guy who is sitting on the end seat and can't see all that well. Ernesto says "straight" and to his credit he tables his hand. The other dude squints toward the board and the 9T on the board and clearly mucks the winner. The table is pretty hush and old dude racks up and leaves. I imply that what was done is pretty uncool but sort of let it go. About an hour later we are like 7 or 8 handed after Joe racks up and I decide to play one last orbit and win every hand since Joe has more chips than me and I really can't allow that. Ernesto limps in MP (pretty strange cuz he is somewhat LAG but for some reason has been limping a lot). Folded to me and I check K9o from the BB. The flop is QT5 and I check and he checks. The turn is a 3 and I check and call. The river is an Ace I check and he fires in tempo. I call and he once again says "straight" and tables 97o. I resist the urge to say "boat" and instead just quietly say "king" and start stacking chips. Danny's face was pretty priceless. I then proceed to win 2 out of the next 4 hands and surpass Joe. Once again all is well in the universe. Bonus hand I almost forgot (repressed). 3 limpers, SB completes, and I exercise my option to put more money in with JJ from the big. Flop is J25. I bet and get 2 callers. Turn is a 4 and I bet and get raised and 4 bet by a pretty passive bad player. He has A3 in his range here so I just call and the river pairs the 2. I CR and and I think he says call so I start to table my hand but apparently he wants to raise again. I am pretty confused and not sure if he saw my hand or not and think "wow, he knows my hand and still wants to raise." I think folding woulda been sick but I wasn't sure so I called and he shows the quad dueces. Yay for 1 outers. |
