lol at this being called AWFUL news. [/ QUOTE ] QFT. At first I thought this was bad news. But now, instead of a truckload of money going to some guy who wins a big donkament that I am not even playing, probably a good portion of that money is going to be on my tables on the internet. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] this idea. |

And for those that are saying that many players will withdraw a portion of their seat:
It is better to have a piece of the pie than none of it. |

Any news on how this affects the under 21 crowd? Will we get the cash too, or will we get the cash in the year we turn 21 or something weird like that?

I'm kind of curious about how the money stuff works too. Is Stars somehow going to catch up to you if you don't register yourself into the WSOP? I'm assuming you still get the $1k in spending money even if you don't show up to get the additional $1k hotel-allowance. 700k FPP's for $11k in cash would be 1.57c per FPP. This works out to be better than the 1.50c cash-for-points bonus for Supernova players. And also would appear to not involve a play-through requirement either. If it really works the way it appears then this could be considered similar to a really huge points-for-cash type purchase which is something I would definitely be interested in trying to do. [/ QUOTE ] Does anyone know the answer to this? If I can just buy the package for 700,000 FPPs and get $12k deposited into my account, then that'll be alot better than all the f*ing $1,500 FPPs bonuses I have to deal with. -BK |

[/ QUOTE ] The WSOP will still be televised on ESPN and it will still have thousands of entrants. If anything the popular "TV" players will get more air time now and we are more likely to see them at the final table, or at least making a run down the stretch. |

I just won a seat, and they deposited $1k into my account. Will they be depositing another $10k, which I will then have to withdraw in order to buy in? Do I only get the second $1k payment upon showing up in Vegas?

If you win 100000 and pay the entry fee of 10000 out of your pocket, you have a net win of 90000 for that tournament.
If you win 100000 and win your seat with a 215 entry fee satellite tournament, then your net win is 99785. So in the second case you pay taxes on the 99785 instead of 90000, but you are not out the 10000 (which you probably had to pay taxes on as well). If you finish out of the money you have a loss of 10000 in the first case or 215 in the second case. PS does not report directly to the IRS like your employer or bank does. Just have records backing up what you report and you will be fine. |
