Oh fan interference with the ball. Of course it's a Red Sox fan who tried to grab it. He should be kicked out of the stadium.

If you're not going to contribute to the friend then why bother making asinine comments?

ERA is more indicative of value. To go farther, Strikeout rate, Walk rate, and homerun rate are the most indicative of value, as they are the things pitchers have the most control over.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just remember, Randy Johnson had an ERA of 2.60 last year, and a walk/strike out ration that was out of this world. Now, if he does that on this team, he goes 30-2. Run support may not be indicative of how effective a pitcher is, but run support will effect your win/loss total. Its a team sport folks. And remember the words of the semi-great Herman Edwards:

You play to win the game!

Actually, it was a Yankees fan. There was a Red Sox fan next to him that they put the camera on, but if you watched, the guy who first leaned over to grab the ball had on a Yankees hat.

Tom Tippett.

The idea is not that pitchers don't have control, it's that if they do, it's not very discernable and that most major league pitchers are about equal in the talent. It takes a very large sample for it to emerge, which is why it's not important in analysing a season's worth of data.

I think his point is that Wright's flaws will be easily masked by a dominant Yankee offense. Could be wrong, though.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is exactly my point. Wright may be flawed, as many Sox fans want to point out, but it isn't gonna matter because he's gonna be the 4th option in the rotation. And on the days when the Yanks are facing their opponents 4th option, he'll probably win many of those games strictly because of his run support.

Thank you for understanding.

Any Sox fan in Yankee Stadium should get his ass kicked.

You'll get to see Wright sooner than originally thought. With Brown now on the DL(again), I can't imagine Torre not starting Wright in Brown's place this week.
