Wow. Now that we know your event is something important that can NEVER be duplicated - you sound like a bigger tool than before.

Here's a crazy idea...go Saturday night after your project.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the logistics of whatever he's doing on the weekend is nearly irrelevant. Get over yourself.

Here's a crazy idea...hang yourself [censored].

I already said my friends live in different states, they have jobs too. These sort of trips come by once a year and Vegas is great during March Madness. I didn't mention it earlier because I didn't want 100 replies about how I care more about boozing than my job. I just wanted to know the legality and the overwhelming answer was that it's legal. K. Fine Done. I can't believe you could be so hostile about something you have zero involvement in that doesn't effect you. Nice life you lead...

Wow, and I thought I had a gripe that next Thursday and Friday I will be sequestered in off-site meetings from 8-8 with no access to TV or computer. Oh yeah, and I'm salaried so no additional pay or comp time, just missing the first round of the tourney.

That sort of rapid advancement isn't really indicative of your tyical office administrative type position. Sounds like sales to me, which are really 2 different ball games. If I was in sales I wouldn't have a fixed sched and i'd also work 2x the hours. That's why i'm not in sales, I like having a fixed sched.

[/ QUOTE ]

A combination of being in the right place at the right time and doing whatever was required to get the job done.

I didn't go into sales until I started my own business.

I didn't really feel it was relevent. It isn't really, but i'm going to Vegas to get smashed with some friends. I'm sure my boss will be super sympathetic to that. Only reason it isn't able to be rescheduled is because my buddies live in different states and it's been like 6 weeks in the making.

My boss finally came in and announced it's the weekend that sux for me. I spoke with him, he said he really needs me for the setup process. What can I say to that? GG Vegas, poor some liquor out for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

you should have laid this out in your op. i recant my opposition. if you had solid plans that involve hotels, flights etc, then that is a valid excuse and you should just be upfront with your boss.

i still think you don't sound like much of an achiever, but in this case, i'm with you.

Right, I'm worried about a guy with a hispanic screen name from "crunkville" and a lil john avatar, hiring me. If I get fired, maybe i'll hit you up for cut in the un-employment line.

What the hell is wrong with you guys? The OP did not once indicate that he would refuse to work or even gripe much about it to his boss or coworkers. Have you ever spent time and money planning a trip out of town and had to cancel on short notice because of work? It pretty much sucks.

Just because he's dedicated to his job and takes that responsibility seriously doesn't mean he has to like it.

A complainer and you wouldn't get along with minority co-workers.
