at approx 25 minutes in when the waitress walks by and gabes like "she calls me all the time" i lol'd gabe is hands down best poker commentator [/ QUOTE ] I liked the sarcasm when Gold and Doyle were alone in a pot. Kaplan "well, it's down to the world champions" |

When HU and you bet and your opponents calls you, you should do one of two things immediately 1. Table your hand 2. Muck your hand, thus hiding what it was, but giving the pot to your opponent no matter what he actually has and he is under no obligation to show. If your opponents wanna let any other behavior slide, that's fine, but those are simply the showdown order rules. [/ QUOTE ] This is correct. |

I don't "hate" JG. But, I got the impression that only Matasow actually enjoyed interacting with him. I think all of the other players enjoyed him being in the game, simply to take his money. Some of the exchanges between JG and the other players seemed awkward to me. I got the impression that Doyle didn't feel completely comfortable with him (socially, not poker-wise), and some of the other players didn't seem in love with him either. Of course, since this opinion is based completely on edited TV clips, it may be way off base. [/ QUOTE ] i got the impression matusow was being friendly to gold for the future potential of somebody else to borrow money off. and i'm not dissing mike either, i find him pretty funny; as somebody said in another thread about an earlier episode it was funny when mike was saying to jamie about how it's not so easy when you don't flop straights and flushes every hand |

Gold loves the A-rag a lot, I see. It's painful to watch him on tv. I know he's going to lose, and feel sorry for him. He's a WSOP champion, and he gets no respect. Kudos. [/ QUOTE ] He shouldn't be accorded respect in a high stakes cash game, against some of the best players just because he won a super large tourney. The 2 have no meaning to each other. Note how Gold played this week. It was almost like he forgot where he was and thought he was back in a tourney again. Giving 9k action with a KJo. Going all in pre flop with AA. Playing every A rag and worse than that, betting out on them as if he had a large stack that would intimidate his opponents. Pathetic poker. Truly. As far as the discussion on whther he was obligated to show his bluffs first: No. As those of us who play cash games have stated this is standard poker 101. When you get caught bluffing, you can simply say "you got it". If your opponent hesitates like he was calling you down with a weak hand (especially if there is a chance that it will be a tie) then you table them. Standard live poker. |

[ QUOTE ] But that is not what Gold did. Gold whould hold his hand until the player that called would show his hand. As I stated, I would have no problem if Gold had in fact mucked his hand and player B (the Caller) then showed his hand to take down the pot. Three Beers [/ QUOTE ] Dude, none of the good players wanted to embarass Gold by making him show his hand. They don't want to embarass him into playing better. [/ QUOTE ] I think Nath said it best earlier in this thread when he said that a good player wouldn't need to see Gold's hand after he says "you got it" to know what kind of cards he was playing. As another poster said, It makes no difference whether Gold was playing J6o or 98s. Having him show the cards might mean that he changes up his play and they wouldn't want that. |

If Im playing against someone halfway decent and I call there bluff Im either waiting for them to show me their hand or waiting for them to muck.
If Im playing against a donkey Ill let him get away with a lot more. |
