[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Do grammar nits get into a snit over the 'corruption' of the word 'entree'? [/ QUOTE ] I have no idea what you are talking about. [/ QUOTE ] I guess you could care less about it, then, so don't bother to google it. BTW, is it ok to verbify 'google'? [/ QUOTE ] How isn't it already a verb? [/ QUOTE ] How did it become a verb? Of course, I don't mean the word 'google' that is derived from googly. Nor do I mean the sense in which it was reportedly used in a Little Rascals film in 1927. I mean, of course, the word that is the name of a company, and its web site, and its search engine. That word has been verbified, against the wishes of its 'owners' (Google Corporation). |

[ QUOTE ]
it...becomes a verb when people use it as one? [/ QUOTE ] That's exactly what I tried to say earlier. When enough people use a certain form it becomes correct by default. |

[/ QUOTE ] Not in all cases imho. As for the [censored] "should of" retards, they'd need to basically change the meaning of the word "of" into the word "have" for it to work that way. And as a general rule I believe a language's suckiness is directly proportional to the number of exceptions to grammatic rules. |
