He wasn't even projected in the top 10 picks before last nights game. [/ QUOTE ] You mean he didn't get any media hype, right? He's been a first round NFL IMO ever since I saw him tear apart Arizona State. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Last year he wanted Vince Young. [/ QUOTE ]care to back this up in any way? [ QUOTE ] W/ high draft picks Al goes after impact athletes, not O-linemen. [/ QUOTE ] this simply isn't true. [/ QUOTE ] That's what alot of ESPN analysts were saying before the draft last year. Sure, noone knows what Al is thinking for sure. Just as much as you know Al won't draft a QB w/ his first pick. I really think Raiders are going QB this year. And I still think they can trade down to get Russel. I don't see where you guys are putting him #1 all of a sudden. He wasn't even projected in the top 10 picks before last nights game. And theres not a snowballs chance in hell Raiders pick Joe Thomas. And yes, Al prefers to go after great athletes before his most pressing needs. [/ QUOTE ] For the record, I think that the Raiders should take Russell. But until I see them call his name, I'm not thinking that they will. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] AL DAVIS DOES NOT TAKE QBS IN THE FIRST ROUND. I don't know how else I can say that. [/ QUOTE ] Looking it up Roman Garbiel Eldridge Dickey Marc Wilson Todd Marinovich All say hi. [/ QUOTE ] LOL. 4 QB's in almost 40 draft classes. Way to prove your point. [/ QUOTE ]And none of them in the past 14 years. Maybe when Al Davis was young and was going to be around for a while he didn't mind drafting QBs. But I remember last year there was a ton of talk about the Raiders taking Leinart as he was dropping, but as I read FBGs a few posters were adament that they were passing on him because of Davis' tendencies. |

Why do people keep thinking the Raiders will take anything but Quinn/Russel/Smith or Thomas? 52% 7 TD's 23 INT's 73 Sacks Case closed. [/ QUOTE ] Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter aren't exactly world beaters, but they had nothing to work with. The entire offense needs to reboot. If Oakland can get even an average offense they can be a playoff team. |

Why does everyone draft on need? I hate drafting on need. Best Available Player I think is by far the best way to draft. Teams often do this and yet fans get mad because they didn't draft a player of need. Especially in the earlier rounds, take BAP, maybe in the later rounds you draft need, but early on BAP is by far the best way to draft.
If the Raiders have Quinn as #1 on their board they should take him, if the Raiders have Thomas at #1 but feel they need a QB, Thomas should still be the pick. |

You can't BAP it all the time. Doesn't make sense. Let's say you have Peyton Manning and let's say Peyton Manning #2 is available. For some reason you have the worst record in the league. Your O is rediculously good, Peyton Manning #2 will have just as good of a career as Peyton Manning 1, you still wouldn't draft Peyton Manning 2 if your D was terrible. You can't go straight for BAP, it's much better to base on need. Do you honestly think Arizona would pick Quinn, Johnson, Jarrett, Ginn, Russell if any were available with their pick even though they might be the BAP.

[ QUOTE ]
9. Miami Dolphins: Troy Smith QB, Ohio State. The Dolphins must decide whether or not to commit to Daunte Culpepper. If they don't, then Troy Smith is the likely pick at pick 9 [/ QUOTE ] I really do not see Troy Smith being taken nearly this high. Probably more of a late 1st round or even an early second rounder. |
