Religion has always "filled in the blanks" for what science could not. As science continues to fill in those blanks, there becomes less of a need for religion. Eventually, we won't have to refer to the supernatural to make meaning out of our lives...we will all realize we are just destined to be worm food.

“Somehow, I managed to maintain a 3.8 GPA in college” I don’t find that an overestimation at all. I find that an objective statement of my grades in college. Overestimation implies a subjective judgment.

Ok a few sentences down...“Going to law school, well suddenly I was average among my peers.” When I do make a subjective judgment on my academic prowess, I actually call myself average. How is this overestimation?????

Irony but mixed in with envy this time??

[/ QUOTE ]

What is there to envy FFS? I hope you never gamble again for your sake, good luck.

Sights or sites, I'm sure there are lots of both in Vegas. If he doubted that you maintained a 3.8 GPA and went to law school, but cannot spell then you are the only one to blame for this if he happens to be wrong.

I hope you're enjoying your game. Let's get back to bashing the weak-willed religious followers, that was more interesting. w00t!

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't consider them all weak-willed. I think it takes a strong will to avoid the temptation to sin, no matter how misguided. That being said, I do find it impossible to argue with religious zealouts because you can't use logic.

[/ QUOTE ]

Strong will? More like an irrational fear of gods wrath and vengeance.

Sin? That's the only thing "fun" in life. Bring on the Asian Triplets! w00t!

[/ QUOTE ]

I dunno about this American obsession with Asian women, for me make it Norwegian or Swedish triplets, hell why not a set of both I can manage.

MY GOD MAN. What do people think of you? What do you think of the people who think of you? And just what, in turn, are their thoughts about what you think about what they think of you?

I DON'T CARE. Please, please just finish your insane story so that ordinary people, like me, can live in peace.

That is all.

I’m back. It looks like some of you have missed me, some of you have tried to tear me down (rather pathetically I might add), while others just said meh... You just can’t please all of the people all of the time. It’s amazing how much debate this thread has sparked. It looks as if the recent posts have devolved into a religious flamewar, and I never even mentioned religion in any of my posts.

I was astounded when I returned to see how many people jumped in with their 2 cents. There were some bizarrely tangential topics bandied about in this thread which left me baffled I recall reading one guy saying that he expected me to attack his gender and his ethnicity…WTF?? (still scratching my head on that one). Then there were the numerous posts on the titular play on which I based my name on. Why are people arguing whether Waiting for Godot is obscure or not? I suppose people like to argue for the sake of arguing or they want to impress others with their breadth of literary knowledge. Obscurity is a qualitative judgment, but I think given the choice of labeling it obscure or not obscure, most people will side with me on this one. I saw one poster say that that was the reason he didn’t buy my story. If I state apples are tasty and you don’t agree with me, does that mean the rest of my argument falls down? If I mention Schrodinger’s Cat and I call it an obscure reference… will someone say “it’s not obscure if you’re an astrophysicist?”

I don’t want to spend too much time arguing the most petty of points here. However, given the large number of views (over 3,500 at least count) there have been NO credible logical, and concrete arguments against the veracity of my posts. Doesn’t that count for something? The best my detractors can come up with are non-specific feelings and vague hunches.

I know I shouldn’t sweat the small stuff. It’s just part of my ultra competitive nature, I never back down from a challenge. That is partially the reason I am in situation I am in. I realize that competitiveness, like everything, is best in moderation, and I am trying to achieve balance in my life right now.

Before leaving last week, I was under incredible amounts of stress. As a result, I was even more likely to go off at the slightest provocation. I am back now, and things are looking up for me, so I probably won’t be as argumentative as I was. There is no point in posting here if it makes me miserable (although the same could be said of poker).

Waiting for Godot

[/ QUOTE ]

So you are gone for a week, you come back and THIS is your response?

You posted here because you wanted help and support and many people stepped up and offered it - and instead of coming back and thanking the people who took you seriously, you just start attacking the people who didn't.

Honestly, that is really f*cking immature.

I think the last thing that people with major problems need is "hope and prayer".

Just get the [censored] up and do something about it. No hope and prayer needed and now you have an extra 15 minutes to jerk off.

that's about the best damn advice I've seen on these forums in a long time. I take at least 20 minutes myself, but I'm hard to please.

Since to succeed in poker, you must have a strong sense of patience... is this your attempt to determine the level of people's patience in waiting for the story to continue?

Glad to see you back and not read about you on the news
