The Blazers used to hold preseason camp at my first college (Willamette), so i've worked out with (spotted, got spotted by, etc) Clyde Drexler, Cliff Duckworth, etc.

Tell us what Cliff Duckworth was like.

big and (he struck me as) pretty lazy. really friendly, though and i'm guessing that his workouts at their preseason camp weren't of the intensity they'd normally be.

I've played poker with some celebs.

Shannon Elizabeth was very sweet and [censored] unreal hot. Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly were both very nice. Laak is a goofball as you would expect and talks a lot at the table. Tilly has a great rack.

Joe Hachem is an extremely nice guy. And a very good poker player.

Kevin Pollack was pretty grumpy and wasn't too happy that I recognized him. He was a pretty good player though. Aggressive.

So whichever one of them is the most famous.

I met boxer Wilfredo Benitez when I was a kid. We talked about Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, etc. Good guy. We talked for over 30 minutes but somehow I can't remember any details of our conversation.

I worked out with Jimmy "dynomite!!!" Walker at a Los Angeles gym several times in the early 90s. It was weird that we arrived at the gym at exactly the same time and circuit trained the same weight machines in exactly the same order. He sounds just like he does on tv but serious. Basically, our conversations went like this, "Okay, you turn"..."Thanks, now it's your turn".

At a different gym, I worked out with the guy who played the role of "Cousin Larry" in an 80s sitcom whose main character was named "Balki". We both worked out at rowing machines that were next to each other. He was very slow. I was very fast.

I got to play with Telly Savalas at the Bicycle in Los Angeles a few months before he died. 4-8 Omaha/8. He sat right next to me. He was the silent type and played very loose-passive. His bald head had lots of lumps and birth marks.

I also played 2-4 stud with Torey Spelling. We were both underaged and we both knew it. We would look at each other each time somebody at the table asked, "Would the jackpot be killed if an underaged kid was in the hand?". To this day I still don't know the answer but I don't want an underage kid to be at my table if I ever play in a jackpot game again.

I was working out at a Gold's gym a few years ago. In comes a super muscular naked black guy into the locker room. I told him, "Wow! You're buff! You must work out real hard!" He looked at me without answering. I didn't know who the heck he was at the time. A few months pass and I see him on TV winning Mr. Olympia. His name is Ron Coleman.

I was a journalism major and worked at a public radio station and had an internship at a TV station. I also spent a semester in Washington in a journalism program. so there aren't really trip reports b/c it was all professional, but here's a list:

-Rev Jesse Jackson
-Ernie Banks
-CBS News correspondent Bob Schiefer
-Linda Greenhouse (New York Times Supreme Court Correspondent)
-Hersey Hawkins
-some blond actress whose name I don't remember, but my camera man knew who she was and she had her own tv show. first name Jillian maybe?
-the kid, who was then in high school, who said "RedRum" (murder backwards) in whatever movie that is
He was on his way to medical school, not into acting at all.
-Peter Jennings

other highlights - I covered a 1st degree murder trial but the Defendant is not famous. and I had a short news story on NPR.

Evander Holyfield.

Sydney Olympics in 2000 went to the boxing and literally walk straight into him. He was waiting for someone to get him in and was standing alone outside the door. I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going and next thing I bump right into him. When I looked up and saw who it was my first thought was oh [censored].

He was actually very cool and we chatted for a few minutes before some official came and grabbed him to go inside.

My mother knew a guy with an all event pass to Boston Garden back in the 70's. I got out on the floor for shoot around. I shook hands with John Havlicek, Bill Russel, and a bunch of that era's Celtics. We got in without seats though, so I sat on the spare backboard at the corner of the floor for John Havlicek's last game. He got was the longest standing ovation of all time. deservedly so.
I've spent an hour flying in a hot air balloon with
Penn Jillette....damn funny guy.
Christy Hefner...she wins best dressed.
Trey Anastasio.....way down to earth. showed up in a 15 year old pickup truck.

A buddy of mine and his band went to foxboro Ma for a rolling stones concert 10+ years ago and were tailgate partying in the parking lot when Mick jagger came by and jammed with them for a while. His dream come true.

When I was out in San Fransisco I ran into David Ortiz a in really small (like 10 tables) Chinese food restaurant. It was the best Chinese food I've ever had(we got a recommendation from a friend we have out there) and we got David Ortiz's autograph but he wasn't to pleased to be identified in front of the other people in the restaurant even though he was wearing easily $100,000 in jewelery and had two 20ish chicks with him.

I have met most of the famous people you read bout playing poker and some you haven't read about, but working in gaming I can't mention exactly who I have met. My father played HS football against and college football with Howard "Hopalong" Cassady and for years his tickets at Ohio State were next to Hopalong and I went to a few games and met him.

Oh, does poker count? Then I've met pretty much everyone on Team PokerStars. Joe Hachem is cool.

[/ QUOTE ]

I meant the non-poker people you hear about playing.
