Pixie did have to turn off the "forcefield" cuz while Sylar's powers wouldn't work with it on...neither would hers. ony problem is she underestimated his powers. [/ QUOTE ] Pixie chick: "I have to kill the person who killed your father." She kills herself... Coincidence? Edit: By the way, does anyone know how the junkie can cut his hand off at the end of episode 1, and have it magically reattached in the first scene he's in in episode 2? Sorry if this has been discussed, but I just watched the whole series back to back yesterday and it's bugging me... |

One of the things that's pretty well established is that every hero has a single power. However, it is sometimes possible for heroes to use their powers in creative or unusual ways.
For example, Skylar's power is not the ability to steal other people's powers. His power is the ability to see how things work and fix (or copy) them. It just so happens that he realised he could use this to copy powers. He could have just as easily become a high tech Iron Man type character. In the case of the Haitian, he may be a general purpose telepath with both sending and receiving abilities (unlike the cop who seems to only receive). Or, he may only be able to dampen people's memories. If it's the latter case, he could still inhibit a hero's power. Just make them forget how to use their power. Peter's ability has a very serious limitation. It's a really powerful power when it comes to other heroes with passive abilities, like healing. However, for any power with conscious use, he both needs to realise the other hero has a power AND he has to quickly learn how to use it. We've seen several examples where heroes need to learn and refine their power (ie: the cop, Nathan) When Peter was around Sylar, he would have duplicated all Sylar's powers (an argument could be made that maybe he wouldn't be able to copy Sylar's adopted powers, but, IMHO once their absorbed they're all just powers which makes them ripe for copying). However, Peter obviously didn't use any of them, likely because he was not aware they existed. Nevermind Sylar stealing Claire's power, stealing Peter's power would be disasterous! Then Sylar could copy anyone's powers without having to kill them. Sylar could then, presumably, use his native power to "fix" himself so the power would become permanent. Not having to go around killing people, and being able to steal powers just by bearing around someone would mean Sylar could keep a super-low profile with zero chance of getting caught until he truly is unstoppable. Could Peter copy The Haitian's ability to cancel out powers (whatever the mechanism) and cancel out The Haitian's power? Could The Haitian make Charlie forget something? Could Sylar give super powers to non-heroes? Or to other heroes? Sylar running around loose in a building that may house several heroes (as it did Isaac) could be a very, very bad thing! |

Peter did use Sylars powers in the high school.
Did you notice all those locker doors that Sylar ripped off and threw at Peter just happened to all be defelcted away from him |

Perhaps I am dumb, but why would a bullet to the brain not have done anything to Sylar (when Pixie had the gun to his head, he said “you know that won't do anything to me”)? Pixie Chicks original plan was to have Sylar blow his own brains out, and Sylar is trying to get at Claire to take her regeneration powers, right? What power does he have now that would help him survive a bullet to the dome? [/ QUOTE ] He could simply stop the bullet before it hit him...or divert its flight path. Or make the gun not work, knock it out of her hand...etc etc I think they intentionally showed a reaction shot of his face when Eden turned the gun on herself because he couldn't believe she would do that...so he was caught totally off guard. So are we assuming that HRG doesn't speak to the Haitain back and forth..he just barks orders at him 24/7? I figure he is just not much of a talker and only speaks with HRG...and Claire it turns out |

If the Haitian could cancel out other people's powers, then Nathan Petrelli wouldn't have been able to fly to escape them in Las Vegas. [/ QUOTE ] The Haitian simply may not have been using his blocking power at that moment. |
