OT - usually only seen Hoedeopbap served with raw cuttlefish, so to me a superior cuttefish not much > than any random cuttelfish cut. I agree in general though, the "mixing" and "heavy saucing" aspect to Korean food (mainly in the comfort food sweet spot) kills alot of the subtle-ty of dishes. I like Gochujang alot, but a dish can just taste like that sauce. My favorite Korean fish dish is Eundaeku Jo-Rim (black cod with daikon radish, sauce is like a soy/sesame base that is spicy). -Al [/ QUOTE ] Eundaegu jorim is awesome. I just hate continually having to avoid eating the tiny little bones. Having one of those stuck in your throat sucks. When I meet someone that says they don't like Korean food, I immediately assume they have terrible taste in everything. Unfair, yes I know. I'm a huge fan of ggak-do-gi rather than the traditional kimchee. DN |

[ QUOTE ] Koreans won't overcharge whities or undercharge fellow Koreans. They pretty much stick to the price on the menu. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah that's been my experience as well. I just meant "throwing in free stuff" as opposed to an actual price-break from menu prices. [ QUOTE ] all i knows is koreans are some cheap mofos. [/ QUOTE ] Whoah whoah OK now I'm a little confused. Are you *sure* you're not Chinese dude? -Al [/ QUOTE ] are you sure you're korean? it was common knowledge in chicago korea town, that they reused pan chan and garnish that looked untouched, so we would always make sure to mess it up so they couldn't. |

Oddjob - that is disgusting Haha - in my my experience, Chinese are *much* more cheap than Koreans. Next time you're in LA we can go to K-Town than SGV, and compare

It's science. DN |

Al also made a good point about not liking Korean food until he moved to LA. This is a very key point. Speaking in averages, the Korean food in LA is even better than in Korea. It is due to the quality of ingredients being superior.
So if you don't like Korean food, come to Los Angeles, find a Korean-speaking friend that knows K-Town(or even Diamond Bar), and sample the food. I guarantee you will be converted. DN |

Now I eat it alot cause it's awesome here (also readily available variety). [ QUOTE ] Stop posting now before it's too late [/ QUOTE ] Ahahahah -Al |
