[ QUOTE ] this all happened at the meeting we had last week. [/ QUOTE ] You asked them if the arrangement was fair? [/ QUOTE ] i didn't really have to. once i laid out my proposal, TNG said he was not comfortable with it, as it is not what he was promised. one of the teachers not affected (he teachers other courses) then asked TNG if he thought my proposal was fair. TNG balked at responding. the other teachers in the department who teach biology, anatomy, etc. don't seem to want to get involvled. i'm guessing because they simply don't want to deal with TTWC. |

Pokerbob,
How are you allowed to teach? I can imagine you going on raging tilt in the middle of class. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know if I'm being a nit, but it seems like you should have put the onus on them to explain how the original proposal was fair, given other facts you've laid out. Such as historically not shafting one teacher with all the undesireable classes. Edited to add: "So you guys see nothing wrong with giving me 100% of the classes that none of us want, while simultaneously giving me 0% of the class that I created and have been wildly successful in? Don't wait for the translation! Yes or no? I am prepared to wait for my answer until hell freezes over!"

Such as historically not shafting one teacher with all the undesireable classes. [/ QUOTE ] i said "in the past, we have tried to 'spread the wealth', so to speak." everyone basically just sat there unresponsive. i also said that i don't think any one teacher should dominate all of the AP courses, including myself. i then stated that if it worked out that i couldn't teach AP Physics, that I'd be more than happy to teach AP Chem. I likely wouldn't be as good at it as I am at the physics, but I'm sure I'd eventually get the hang of it. It may actually be good for the department to have several teachers qualified to teach several different courses. This did not please TTWC in the least, as I am SURE she felt that I would never want to teach the AP Chem, and thus she had me in a corner. (Daddy called her bluff). But in the interest of fairness, I was willing to teach it. basically, i work with dolts. |

In sales there is a tactic called the take away. I recommend you approach the BMOC at take something off the table unless a fairer solution is provided - meaning you. Explain that you are prepared to leave due to the hostile environment fostered by the new management, that you work for love of the students not for money (hence your 1 year leave). Its too late to find a replacement, I think you have a 40-55% chance of succeeding with my strategy.

4) Where is the science department head in all of this? In the two schools I taught, the department head was in charge of the scheduling, not the AP. [/ QUOTE ] we don't have department heads, thus the chaos. |
