USC/Texas opinions

If VY isn't so great, USC wins this one by 20+ and we're saying nothing about the Texas D. I'll agree with general principle that Defense is a key, but that's not what won this game for Texas. You can say they stopped R Bush to a degree, but USC still scored 5 straight times (plus a 6th time early in first), only punted twice, threw 1 INT and had two drives stopped on 4th down in TX territory. 500 yards of offense.

The couple stops they got including the 2 key ones were good defense. USC has had amazing offense all year. I can't say Texas looked Slugish by on D during the game, that interception was an awesome catch. I won't credit the win to Texas Defense but either way you go. They would of lost without VY or without a good defense to come through when it counted.

I realize the couple stops they had (esp w/ 2:00 left) were huge, but my point is this: Texas D didn't win the game (helped a bit), VY and the offense did. If the O wasn't so good and had a couple more 3 & outs in the 2nd half, how many straight times (instead of 5) would USC have scored? Best D is often a good offense to keep USC's studs off the field.
