I assume just keep marching the king forward to e7 is the way to go?

Ke7 seems to be the path...
I assume we could find away to get our knight trapped if we really really tried.. but short of that we should be fine... |

yep Ke7 looks fine, the knight is safe for now (e.g Ke7 Ke3 Kd6 and Nb3-c5)

I'm interested to see how this plays out. This is the part of a chess game that I am worst at, so I look forward to seeing how this plays out.
For a chess player who only kind of know what he is doing, this thread is extremely helpful. Seeing the decisions discussed and voted on has been really helpful at certain points, and I think reading this has helped me a ton. PoG is a highly under appreciated forum. |

I'm interested to see how this plays out. [/ QUOTE ] One way it better NOT play out is for us to focus on the queenside and allow him to come in and rape our kingside! 40. Ke4 Kd6 41. Kf5 If there is a swindle for him it starts here... And maybe this line is fine but we better be sure... 40. Ke4 Ke6 seems like a "normal" move.. but we'll see after his move... |

I'd love to get 41...Kd5 in, I think we are winning there. [/ QUOTE ] Possibly but its all or nothing we've got to worked it out pretty well. My "swindle fear" is that we play for a line like that and he breaks up our kingside, and.... the bishop can hold off the pawn. However yes the Kd5 is a dominating square. In that position I'd be tempted to play Bb6 just to slow us down a bit... If we are careful no fears... |

[/ QUOTE ] It seems fine, just I don't see the danger. 40.Ke4 Kd6 41.Kf5 Kd5 42.Bb6 Nb3 43.g5 Nd4+ 44.K(any) g6 and now he's boxed out. He can try other moves instead of Bb6 or g5, but our knight does a good job stopping his ideas, even from all the way on c1. If not 42.Bb6, one hop to d3 and it's threatening b5-b4-b3-b2 winning the bishop. Two hops and it's on e5, or checking on d4. Three and its attacking the b6 bishop from c4, or d7 where it also supports g6+, allowing the pawn to start advancing again. I really think this game hinges (as a win or draw for us) on whether we can get our king to d5 or not. |
