Default $25 NL overpair on developing board

I am working on being able to fold to raises more, but I can't seem to do with premium tptk, over pairs or better on currently safe boards. Sometimes you pick off bluffs and semi-bluffs when calling raises, but I think more often I am behind when I get raised.

Is this an auto-fold when the 2nd villain reraises me and other villain on the flop?

No reads as this is the first orbit. I think I should have raised the weak flop lead but it put me back on my heals a bit. Now since I played the flop poorly I'm not sure what I should do on this turn.

Hero...?

Button is 29/23/6 over 86 hands. UTG is a passive calling station. Lead flop or c/r?

(I chose not to 3-bet preflop because I've already done it to the button a couple of times and I didn't want him to play back at me this time. Plus I was pretty sure UTG would also call behind giving me pretty good odds to see the flop.)

I am still learning cash, so don't know if I am correct, but...

9T hand I would raise flop. A lot of cards can come that make your hand no good, and since you raised pf you're looking pretty strong by raising the flop. Bet/raise turn...

JT hand - that is a scary flop as any club on later streets kills your hand, so bet it... maybe $3, don't give a free card here, imo, and if betting takes it down, that is not too bad either.

I've been told by lacky, and experience confirms this, that I'm a liability with too many BIs. He actually said I should buyin for the minimum, but I don't have the nerve.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just trying to catch up on this thread since I am finally focusing on cash.

The "nerve"? You mean because of what the other players... who you are there to rape and pillage, remember... might think of you?

It's very reasonable to buy in short as you are learning cash, I did it for a while. Plus you can make a reasonable living never buying in deep if you play enough tables, which is easy to do as a shorty because all your decisions are preflop or on the flop. If you make too much $$ on one table just cash out and join another one.

Then as you make the transition and want to learn to play deeper, you can stay on tables where you win $$ and adjust your strategy, this serves as a hedge of sorts and also naturally leads to the "stack protection" approach that raptor recommends above, since you don't want to blow all your winnings from that table on one stupid hand.

Gradually as you get better, you can then buy in deeper from the start.

Of course you can make more $$ playing deep IF you are a good deep-stacked player. That IF is kinda critical, though.

[/ QUOTE ]

generally speaking... Is there a point that you should cash out b/c your stack is too big and everyone is scared of you... like 300xbb? more? (this assumes max buy-in is 100xbb)

only time i would worry about it is if you are OOP vs an aggro player who is also 2.5+ buyins deep. Re: that shortbuying post you quoted, as much as i hate them i feel like i should warn you that if you just buy in short and decide you know how to play it b/c you played SNGs you're going to have no idea what to do in most spots and lose a ton most likely.
