I think curtains is relying on his ability to play Bd4 at any point, which basically screws us and there isn't much we can do about it

Either b5/g6. I don't think we have winning chances here, but I'm pretty sure curtains doesn't either if we don't get too greedy.

The pawn needs help to advance, push the king.... I assume Kf8, possibly f6 and Kf7, however I'd rather not put the pawn on a black square... [/ QUOTE ] Agreed Kf8, with g6 later as necessary being the setup for our kingside pawns. We aren't going to be able to queen the b-pawn with the King and bishop defending. It's just going to be a diversion so we can go after white's kingside pawns. In some cases we will sacrifice this pawn to get white's king away. There is no reason to move it up the board right now without our king around to help out. The priority is to get our king as centralized as possible. |

tim, what's our response to 38. ... Kf8 39. Bc5+? [/ QUOTE ] You just slide the king to e8 and walk up the white squares. It semi-steals a tempo from us but we'd get it back when we move the knight and hit the bishop. Bottom line the fear of the check is not a reason to play f6, just march the king along to e8 and up.... |
