I'm trying to get Rc1 to work. We can play an ending where we centralize our King and force him to use his king to stop our passed b-pawn, at which time his kingside pawns will be vulnerable. With the rooks on it seems like he can stop this pawn too easily.

I haven't played chess since I was 8 so I migh miss quite a bit.
We play Rc1 and he has to move the king towards the rook, we exchange rooks and we can outrace the king with the b pawnbecause we block the two black c fields with the knight and the white field will be blocked by the pawn itself so the king can never cross the c line. I don't see any answer to c1 except for him taking our rook in which case we take his rook and have an open b line. |

so we're considering Rc8 Rc1 Nc3 Nb4 (which I hate) b5 f6 [/ QUOTE ] 36...Nc3 37.Re8+ Kh7 38.Re7 b5 39.Rxf7 and a later Rb7 getting behind the pawn can't be stopped. 36...Nb4 is similar. If we don't want to trade rooks, it should be one of these: 36...f6 37.Re8+ Kf7 38.Rb8 and it's going to be hard to get this b-pawn moving. 36...Rc8 37.Re7 b5 38.Rb7 b4 39.Be3 etc. 36...b5 37.Re8+ Kh7 38.Rb8 b4 39.Be3. Now 36...Rc1 should be the move on principle because we are going to play an outside passed pawn ending and it makes sense to exchange down in that type of position. But after 37.Rxc1 (better than Kf1 since the white king's priority is to move up the ranks) Nxc1 38.Kg2 the white king will get to his 4th rank first. |

We can block his pawns and outrace him on the other side with our pawn, no? |

Maybe I don't get it. If he plays the rook exchange and moves the king afterwards, what stops us from just moving the b pawn to the holy land (and once it's there also controlling the nice diagonal)
