We have certainly changed life in the Children, Incorporated office in Richmond, Virginia, as evidenced by their press release and this e-mail I received. (I hope someone visits the office and reports back.)

Barry,

Just wanted to share with you that this event has stirred up more excitement than one could ever imagine! Everyone is now glued to their computers following the blogs and as you had mentioned earlier…. It is fun and entertaining.

Again, we just cannot thank you enough!!

Marian

CI is very good with feedback and we will eventually get exact statements detailing how the money was spent. Often it is just for things like sleeping bags, clothing, and school supplies, but maybe there will be extra for a BBV playground somewhere.

I'm glad we are all able to share in the enjoyment of actually making a difference. Many people go through life without having this experience. This should provide extra incentive for all of us to do well, so we can make a difference whenever we hit it big in whatever we do.

I am now in debt to all of you. I will become the Charlotte's Web of poker as I utter cryptic messages on national TV. If I win an all-in pot in my NBC Heads-up match tomorrow against Carlos, I will say, "Ship it crucial," provided I can do it in a polite way.

Barry

I still think saying "what it do" is the way to go.

Chris. PM wtfsvi, looks like his CC got rejected, it would be a cool way to make the stars push 20k+ .

Assuming nolanfan's work is still offering to double it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this is unlikely. Not only is the donation getting somewhat larger than anticipated, but for nolanfan to say he is donating this himself is an out and out lie. It would be nice to get a corporation to match the donation, but not by lying.

Okay. I wasn't under the impression that his work thought he himself would be donating. 10k and 30k total are still very impressive though, and much more than any one could have anticipated beforehand.

I know wtfsvi IRL and I believe he's in Paris for the weekend. I don't know if he's going to be anywhere near a computer for the next few days. He's on AIM but has been idle for over 36 hours so it's likely he left town already and didn't turn his computer off. Anyway, if you PM him and don't get a response for a while, that is probably the reason.

he pm'd me 14 or so hours ago, saying he still didn't have a way to donate the 2350 and asking if i'd take it. I asked him to wait a bit longer. no reply since then.

These forums have a history of dogpiling, so to speak, where a thread will spin out of control with the smallest of nudges. Very cool to see it happen like this. Just sent 50 to the kiddies.

It would be really nice if this actually got some news attention, it's certainly news worthy (more so than the 450th Anna Nicole Smith update) and would go a long way in helping the image of online poker.
