So how should I feel about this session?

Basically I start out losing, then I make it to +100 BB. I take a break and continue in the evening, and I quickly go up to +140 BB with a winrate of some 7.7 BB/100 in 1800 hands. Then I start the serious session, and the next 3k hands I manage to drop to 70 BB profit...yuk. But on the bright side... the winrate altogether is ~1.4 BB/100 over 5k. So take just the final result and it's ok, I guess. I still feel like a loser though.

Hey POKERFISHERMEN, I just got back from Nampa Idaho, about 20 mins from Boise. Tried some flyfishing on the Boise River. Great looking river, tons of bugs out on the water. Thought it would be epic flyfishing but it was bad. The river might have been running a bit high. Good to get out though. Going to take the wife and daughter up to Mammoth this summer or a few days of the same. Wife likes to flyfish which is a VNH!

BobT-That sounds great. Never had been Muskie or Pike fishing but your outing soudns pertty good there. I hear that Walleye are good eating, is that right?

The best part of the group that I go with on this trip, is that everyone does their part, so the cooking/cleaning/and maintenance all gets done without any issues. So we just eat/fish/eat/drink/tell_lies/sleep, get up and do it again for a week, and it is a nice break from everything else.

Walleye, are good eating, and if you are adept with a filet knife, I believe that pike are indistinguishable by taste. And most fishing management almost coddles walleye populations, and treats pike like rough fish, plus a medium sized pike (26") produces about the same amount of meat as 4 walleyes that are in the keepable slot for walleyes >17.5 inches.

I also think it is a lot more fun to catch fish that are 6-20 pounds than ones that are 1-4 pounds . Not to mention that dealing with the apex predators, is just cool. Muskies are WAY BAD, and they know it. Nothing in the water is going to mess with them, but they can mess with anything that they choose to. One of the guys had a 15" smallmouth on his line, and a very big muskie came up and hit it like a snack, and when my friend finally got the smallmouth in, it was shredded, and bleeding, they let it go, and while it was swimming off, the muskie came in and grabbed it. I also had a muskie try and grab a 24" pike that I was playing, but it missed and dissappeared.

I would estimate that we probably saw about 5 fish a day that were at least 40" in length, and nothing I can write really can communicate what that is like, until you experience it.

I have seen lots of pics of muskie and they look like savages. One notch below a gator! Going to do some more salt water fishing this summer here in So Cal as well.

They are one notch below a gator. I think that they are the only freshwater gamefish that comes close to the battle that a saltwater fish provides.

On my one saltwater fishing experience, in SoCal, my brother hooked a bonita, and chased it around the bay, until he got spooled, and then I really got an appreciation for how fast, and strong Saltwater fish can be.

Dropped $200 yesterday playing 7.50/15. Very weird session, where it seemed all the "correct plays" preflop were losers and the "incorrect plays" preflop would have been big winners.

Examples:

I have JJ UTG + 1. UTG limps, I raise, 3 callers. Flop is T64, turn is 4. I fold to a passive guy's turn CR.

I have AA UTG. I raise, 3 callers. Flop is K64. I call down an aggro players turn CR and he's got a set of 4's.

I have QQ UTG. I raise. 2 callers. Flop is rags. Turn is a K and an aggro leads out. I call down and he's got KTo.

In the meantime:

I have AJo UTG + 1. A good TAG opens UTG and I instafold preflop. I look in horror as 5 people cold call the raise. Of course the flop has an A and the turn is J. Some fish with A2s scoops the big pot (TAG had TT).

I have K9o in CO. There are some limpers and I get ready to limp, but then an unknown raises in hijack and I instafold. Flop is QT8, turn J. I miss out again.

I have KTs in SB. UTG TAG raises, a cold caller, tight passive 3 bets, and I fold like my cards are on fire. Flop is Txx, turn is T. LOLZ

Sometimes you just wish you were a fish i guess

I can't count the number of times I've wished I sucked more.

Kit, you should post those hands in which you folded PF to a good TAG's PF raises. IMO these are very good plays(forget about results)that others might want to see. I think that a lot of people would auto play these hands and disregard a raise from a TAG on your right. Shows discipline to me. No wonder you do well. NHs

Default modest brag

what up SS forum, just wanted to issue a minor brag: ran so g00t in june I siphoned off some bankroll & just bought tickets for me & my wife to travel to england, france & italy in august. it's a major feeling of accomplishment, and I'm going to relish the hell out of the trip knowing poker funded it.

anyway, this forum is the nuts & is in large part responsible, so thanks to everyone who posts for your generosity & insight.
