[ QUOTE ] I'm still waiting for Dominic to post a story. [/ QUOTE ] He already has several times over the past 2 years... If you haven't, you should read his post about Motley Crue (or some other 80's rock band... Pretty sure it was them, though). [/ QUOTE ] I've read it. I wouldn't mind reading a NEW story though. I went to high school with Carrie Ann Inaba. She was a couple of years older than me, but was friendly to me because she was digging on my cousin (who went to another school).
Met David Robinson at the Bellagio. Late night, my wife was playing Sic Bo. I was sweating her and laughing at her. he came up and was trying to figure out why the hell anyone would play that game. we got to talking about hawaii because he'd just bought a place in Kona. then his wife came up excitedly with a bucket full of nickles gushing about the jackpot she'd just hit. The Blazers used to hold preseason camp at my first college (Willamette), so i've worked out with (spotted, got spotted by, etc) Clyde Drexler, Cliff Duckworth, etc. Gary Payton used to live with a distant friend while at OSU. very cool dude the few times i met him in passing. The ex Lt. Governer and current congresswoman from HI used to babysit me. good friends with my parents. I've met and played with Ray Zee, El Diablo, JA Sucker and Boris. They're pretty famous, they tell me. |

It's weird - the more I think about it - the more famous people I keep thinking of (this is post #3 for me in this thread).
I met Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads & Tom Tom Club) at CBGB....their son was in one of the opening bands that night. Both were EXCEPTIONALLY nice....actually spent a few minutes with Tina (who had a good buzz going) - talking about the early days of punk rock & all of that. I'm in a band & I meet people who are [censored] all the time - and then you meet 2 bona fide rock stars (in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame actually) who are completely down to earth and as nice as can be....it just shows that people are people - some are [censored], some are nice - and they'd probably be that way with or without the fame. |

Was in Rome, Italy this past October... While waiting for a friend in the lobby of my hotel... Martin Scorsese gets off the elevator and starts chatting with me!!... (I almost had a heart attack - I dabble in independent filmmaking!) Was the week of the International Film Fest and he offered me a ticket to his private screening of 'The Departed' showing the next day. Too bad I was heading back to the states that night Earlier that day, Sean Connery smiled and waved to me in the lobby too! anyway, after we came back from the bar one of the nights (around 4), we threw an after party in our friends room like we always did. we'd always leave the door open, and random people would always come in and drink/smoke with us. so that night, who strolls in but that guy derek. we welcomed him in, gave him a beer, and smoked a few blunts with him. [/ QUOTE ] Awesome story. For whatever reason, I watched the season of Road Rules that he was on. He was a drunken mess and by most accounts an alcoholic. IIRC he tried to quit a time or two but kept going to RW/RR challenges, which is a steely test for even the most hardened reformed alcoholic. I stumbled across one of those a week or two ago and he is still boozing it up. I'm sure that the RW/RR Challenge does what all other reality shows do and puts losing contestants into sequesterville until the whole event is over, so no doubt he just had time to kill and spent it getting trashed every day/night. Also, the only ep that I saw was him getting eliminated, and I think it was pretty early on in the competition so that makes sense. |

Mario Williams
Half way through our group's last game of bowling Mario and and a somewhat rotund chick start bowling about 5 lanes to our right. Our group was the only one within 20 lanes of him. After we were done and after a few drinks I began to make my move on him. I know he saw me out of the corner of my eye and was trying to ignore me. Also his face kinda looked like I was about to annoy him. None the less I approached and welcomed him to Houston. I saw that he wasn't doing so well bowling so I told him "I hope you do better in football than in bowling". He immediately started cracking up laughing. I then commented on his sweet bowling shoes patted him on the back and then left. It was like getting the number of the hottest chick at a club. |
