Being relatively new here......

Because of traffic issue, the split is a no-brainer. I like the divisions as proposed.

I have always thought it strange that 1/2 was lumped in with .01/.02 or .05/.10 Same game, but definately different opponents USUALLY. There are tight/loose tables at each stake, but IN GENERAL, .05/.10 doesn't not play quite the same as 1/2 IMO and micro guys are looking for MICRO advice.

I'm not as convinced as others that the micros will suffer from brain drain. Afterall, I'll still post there. OK OK, not a good example. I commonly see many of you post on the Beginners Forum and would expect lurkers from SSNL to watch over the micros for glaring mistakes.

I know I may have come across as a huge d-bag in both threads but I will definitely pop in to the micro forum to post.

if this is done there should def. be some sort of digest link in the micro forum to some 100/200 hands.

I'm in favor of it if it will improve the quantity/quality of the replies to threads I start.

I think it's a bad idea.

SSNL is all about learning the basics of NL and hand reading, rather than the absolute levels of the blinds. Maybe the range we put villains on changes somewhat as we move up the levels, but also it does depending on whether villain is solid, wild, a fish etc., so whilst the analysis might change a bit, the nature of the questions and thought processes within the SSNL forum are similar across the majority of the questions- what does he have, how do i best play against that?

Contrast that with MSNL where this is more of a given, and the analysis seems to be more about when and where to make moves, good times for bluffing etc. I don't see that a split in SSNL would really give rise to 2 forums with different content, so I don't see the need.

Bro, NL25 and lower is NOT about hand reading, at least not compared to NL50 and up. How are you supposed to read hands when half the players are 40/5/.5?

[/ QUOTE ]

I played 3 tables of 200NL yesterday. My first (moving up).

No less than 8 players across 3 tables had stats like 55/8/2.

Many posters kid themselves about the level of play at NL100-200, I think. The good players are way better, sure. But the bad players aren't any better (nor do their hand ranges narrow much), they are just more aggressive (but mindlessly so).

Maybe it's a PokerRoom network thing, though.

also, wrt the line from micro/small, I agree that 25 to 50 is a bigger step than 50 to 100, but I think including 50nl in the micro is the right call because:
1) this would create a much better distribution threads numberwise
2) having a strategy forum that is capped at 25nl (where lots of guys start) would create a lot of blind leading blind

oh man, now Party is splitting the 2p2 forums? Gaah! Screw them this time I am cashing out!!

Just kidding. Last month I switched over from SNGs so I know my opinion doesn't hold much sway, but I think the split is a good idea. Though as people have pointed out this will definitely put some burden on the micro mods and on the current SSNL regulars to help sustain the quality of the micro advice.

And since there will be fewer posts in both micro and ssnl, maybe each post will tend to generate more (or more thorough) replies. Though this could be completely wrong.

Also, splitting the forums will give people more incentive to move up, especially to NL100, and I like that.

Again, I've basically just been lurking the cash forums, but the big risk seems like screwing up the good community feeling that the SSNL (not to mention the MSNL) seem to have. It's a really good vibe in here so I hope that doesn't get sapped.

I didn't like the idea at first, but I'm coming around.

I personally think that the biggest benefit to this split will be that users of the current SSNL forum will read both forums, but since the hands will be organized better each thread will get better attention. Interesting threads often get moved to page 2 (and I have 20 threads plus stickies on my front page) just because there are so many new threads every few minutes.

As it is I read all 3 of the NL forums because they all have useful information to an aspiring player, so what's one more?

I think that the most convinving argument for splitting between 50NL and 100NL is that so many people seem to struggle for so long with that transition. I don't see any difference between 100NL and lower but clearly a lot of people who are there do.
