Flo Mounier is the fastest drummer of all time and arguable one of the best. He plays the fastest blast beat ever recorded on Cryptopsy's latest album. Video here. [/ QUOTE ] My vote goes to Flo. Although a cool video, the sound does nothing to showcase his talent. A couple other personal favorites, Kevin Talley ex-Dying Fetus ex-Misery Index ex-The Red Chord, Chris Adler from Lamb of God, Brian Harvey from Pig Destroyer and of course Dave Lombardo from Slayer. |

[ QUOTE ] Keith Moon was tremendously overrated. He was a great character and he was wild on the drums, but he wasn't particularly ... fast. [/ QUOTE ] LOL [/ QUOTE ] Compared to today's drummers, he isn't fast. What passed for fast in the 60s and 70s isn't even close to fast today. |

Other aspects are also missing, such as time signatures and innovation. He's not a great drummer. |

[/ QUOTE ] Drummers today are faster than drummers of the 60s. Why is that so hard to understand. E.g., Moon had a double bass drum setup. Name one song where he pounds the bass drum as fast as Lars Ulrich. Would you deny that guitarists today are faster than guitarists of the 60s. Of course not. (Someone like Satch, Vai, or Petrucci are much faster than anything Clapton or Hendrix ever did). Same thing is true of drums. Music (or I should say hard rock/metal) is faster today than back then. Metallica and the other thrash bands to incredible tempos that they just didn't do back in the 60s. |
