According to Wikipedia, the fighters had to be heavily fueled just to make it to Osirak (which is 1000 miles from Israel) and back. They'd have to cross over the entire country and back again.

More reading has turned up the Popeye Turbo cruise missile which Israel claims to have a range of 1,500 km (~900 miles). They'd still have to park pretty close to Iran to fire those off and Iran also has submarines.

Yeh, if Iraq had scuds in the first Gulf War that attacked Israel, you'd better believe Israel has that capability over 10 years later. Israel is a nucleur country, yet they can't reach Iraq with a missle? That just doesn't sound right.

Crash, very interesting post. But at the same time, their is a growing population of people who detest the fanatical muslim terrorists that attack Israel. And with every additional terrorist attack on western soil, that population grows even larger. I would say the math is on Israel's side.

I'm not sure. Accurate missile technology is really complicated. The Scud was 100% Soviet developed and given to a lot of Third World countries, including Iraq. (Iran's and NK's ballistic missiles are largely based on the Scud as well.)

It's quite conceivable that Israel has chosen not to invest that kind of effort into developing accurate long-range missiles (or the political effort to secure a tech transfer from the US) because it has no real use for them. The reason Iran and NK want ballistic missiles is to have the capacity to threaten conventionally more powerful opponents. Israel isn't really outclassed by any of its enemies.

The Nazis harmed the innocent. The Plaestinians are not innocent.

Ethnic cleansing Gaza and the West Bank of Arabs punishes the guilty who have supported terrorism. Granted not 100% of 'palestinians' support terrorism support terrorism against Israel but the majority do. As D.MacArther said, "There is no substitute for victory". Israel needs to end the policy of restraint and crush the fledgling palestinian govt, seize that land, kick the Arabs out, and build a wall. The anti-semites of the world will bitch about it but screw them. The palestinians have had NUMEROUS chances for a homeland but they choose the path of war and breaking promises to Israel. There should be a price for starting and losing a war. But the USA has stepped in numerous times force Israel to give back land to the Arabs. The Arabs are like a complusive gambler that makes poor wagers, loses their money, then they cry and the casino is forced to return their money. Time for the Plaestinians to pay a price for their war-mongering. Time for Darwin to step in and let the decadent palestinian 'culture' sink into obscurity. BTW... to those talking about Israel reaching out and touching Iran... Let's not forget the substantial US presence in Iraq & Afganistan... But people save their strogest hatred for groups that attack THEIR country. Hamas and Hez. probably don't want to be associated with any group that attacks the U.S.

good points, however you forget that Hezbollah is widely believed to be behind the bombing of the U.S. marines barracks. More to the point though, anytime a terrorist act occurs, all countries that have been attacked in the past emphatize. So basically more terrorist attacks only breed more hatred and contempt for terrorist groups.
