All,

33...Rh6 leads to 34.Qf3 and we have to move the rook again to avoid losing a piece to 35.Ra1.

All,

Anyone have any criticisms of 33...a6? We put the pawn on a square that it wants to be on, and after 34.Rd1 Rd6 35.Rxd6 Qxd6 we've maintained parity.

All,

33...Qe6 leads to 34.Rd1 Rd6 35.Rxd6 Qxd6 36.Bxa7 and we've lost a pawn.

In fact, most moves other than 33...Rd6 or 33...a6 lead to this outcome.

The counter to Rd1 would be Rc8 not Rd6

Maybe, but that doesn't seem to change the outcome any.

Hmmm...clearly that leads to 35.Kf1 Qh1+ and then I'm not sure what after that. If white exchanges queens...

35.Kf1 Qh1+ 36.Qxh1 Rxh1 37.Ke2 Nc3+ 38.Kd2 Ne4+ 39.Kd1 Nc3+ and white takes perpetual check in order to not lose his rook.

If white doesn't exchange queens...

35.Kf1 Qh1+ 36.Ke2 Nc3+ and black wins the queen.

So white will exhange the queens.

Scott, I take it back, your line doesn't suck. I think it leads to perpetual check. Is my calculation wrong?

Now the question is what is happens if curtains responds to 33...Rh6 with 34.Qg2.

if 33. ... Qe6 34. Rd1 Rc8 35. Bxa7 Nc3, now what does curtains do?

Durron,

Um....yeah. Good point.

But then curtains won't play 35.Bxa7, he'll just play the truly nasty 35.g5 opening up an attack on the newly placed rook.

NM...the queen on e6 would block the attack on the rook.

I feel like a spatial retard sometimes lol.
