Scottie,

ElD is going beyond the scope of the question. The question is whether or not a food is enhanced by adding chocolate or cheese. ElD is trying to add a lot more.

Scottie,

I hate them too. "prepared in such a way that adding either cheese or chocolate can make another appetizing dish" is why he discounts all tuna because of a tuna melt and discounts all steaks because of cheese steak. Very silly, imo.

And, no, I'm ten years too old.

ElD,

When did I ever say anything about Tuna sashimi?

Also, I didn't discount all steaks because of cheesesteaks or all tuna because of tuna melts. However, as has benen mentioned before, there are many steak dishes which include cheese, namely bleu cheese and gorgonzola. I can certainly see tuna dishes, particularly asian dishes, could be the exception to the rule.

Po,

OK, in that case, I will say:

Seared Tuna
Sashimi
Ribs
Brisket
BBQ Chicken
Hot Links
Fried Chicken
Pad Thai
Thai Curry Chicken
Indian Curry Chicken
General Tso's Chicken
Sesame Chicken
Lemon Sorbet
Grapefruit
Fresh Spring Rolls
Fried Spring Rolls

It just seems like one could go on forever. What am I missing here?

You are constantly trying to think of a food that fits and have never thought of any of these?

ElD - Sure you are

PoBoy - any food, huh? Meaning a base ingredient, instead of a way to prepare it? Just trying to help you out, dude.

Scottie,

Some more that pop to mind:

Tuna Tartare
Carpaccio
Steak Tartare
Peking Duck
Potstickers
Cucumbers
Sprouts
Onion rings
Chicken wings

I think I could go on indefinitely. I'm not getting the hard/tricky part of this at all.

ElD,

Off the top of my head, I can tell you that cucumbers (especially if steamed), onion rings, brisket and to some extent chicken wings are delicious with just melted American cheese.

I can't off the top of my head think of how the asian dishes can be appetizing with any cheese, but seared tuna is excellent with goat cheese.

I understand why you might think that these dishes wouldn't be any good with any kind of cheese, but I think that you're not really giving enough thought to the wide range of various types of cheeses available.

I think that even a quick glance at a fondue cookbook could show you what various cheeses go well with an innumerable number of foods.

PoBoy- a cucumber w/cheese doesn't really taste like anything thought. It's just a crisp fresh cheese delivery device. It would seem that you really like cheese, and like putting it on stuff, and the reason that you think stuff tastes good with cheese is because basically you like cheese.

The specific flavor of a cucumber is not accented by cheese (and mos def not American, I can see some other more subtle cheeses doing better).

PoBoy,

You really think brisket and chicken wings are "enhanced by adding cheese or chocolate" ?

As I said earlier, I can dip my excellent porterhouse in cheese sauce and it'll still be tasty. But it will be better without the cheese sauce.

PoBoy,

Note that Dibs is really fat, so when it comes to cheese and chocolate, he really knows what he's talking about.
