Unfortunately they don't build elevators large enough to get 2p2 out of the gutter.

[/ QUOTE ]

How does that go? Something about "the longest journey begins with one step."

Not if you're in an empty elevator shaft! Then the longest journey ends in about ten steps when you bump into the other wall!

So... Can I use that as my location? I think the answer will be yes but I'd like some confirmation.

No one except Jim, himself, or an Admin, can overturn Jim's ruling on this. As it seems an Admin hasn't thought you are serious in wanting Jim's ruling overturned, and weighed in here, you can PM Mat, as he invites everyone so to do when they don't receive an answer they regard as being satisfactory.

If you change the Loc text back to something similar, without Jim's or an Admin's approval, you could be banned for doing so.

What puzzles me is why you want to have text that is, (to a subjective degree), basically offensive and unnecessarily aggressive to all readers at Twoplustwo.

It isn't even funny; although I do admit I can see the odd time that it could be construed as being a vaguely amusing and ironic riposte in context in certain situations, to people you like and get on with.

On the other hand, if you want to say this in some seriousness to most of the readers, in all of your posts, (which, in effect, Loc text does), then why would you want to associate with us?

I've said elswhere that personally I don't think it's in any way a big deal, one way or another, but actually it takes someone like Jim to make a stand every now and then. There is a general tendency for things like acceptable decorum to slip, in all walks of life, and for people to accept gradually whatever it is that is put in front of them as being the norm. Very few people have the gumption to stand up in front of their peers and say, "Enough is enough."

This Loc text would not have been acceptable on Twoplustwo a few years ago. Now, there is debate about it. Next year, without the heroic Jims of this world intervening, we will be seeing dicks in everyone's avatars, let alone in their Locations.

I say, three cheers for Jim Kuhn!
