You cant back down here imo. Go to the felt preflop if there is a rake limit.

[ QUOTE ]
So tiltaholic has persuaded me to take a 50BB shot at 10/20 (well, he wanted 100BB, but I didn't want to blow 1/4 of my roll). Should be interesting. My plan for moving up is always this:

1) run hot
2) hit minor downswing
3) run about breakeven
4) lose until you're about even
5) start winning and never look back

I am currently on step 3.

[/ QUOTE ]

i thought about what you said...

the pattern that repeats for me is:

1. run hot for <1000 hands. or at least feel like i'm hot, since the $s are doubled.
2. hit a downswing that feels major due to double stakes but is actually like 50bb.
3. spend some variable amount of time tilting/playing scared and being generally breakeven or losing.
4. start winning.
5. if this is 2/4, have a large downswing after 20k hands that makes me almost breakeven lifetime for the limit.

i guess i don't feel the need to specify a number of BB when i "move up" since i'm usually not simply moving up and not playing the original limit, but rather am transitioning up when i feel confident or when i find a good table...

my point was that you have 800bb at your current limit so even if you lost 100b at the higher limit you'd still have 600bb. (of course if you need the cash for something...then whatever...)

and also, you've "moved up" enough to know that the game is still the same and it's 90% psychological.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 raises, Hero calls, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG calls, MP2 calls.

I just call with AJs since there was a raise in front…

Flop: (10.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB bets, UTG folds, MP2 folds, MP3 raises, Hero 3-bets, BB calls, MP3 caps, Hero calls, BB calls.

I flop the stone…cold…nuts. It is bet and raised in front of me, I 3-bet and happily call the cap. I’m giggling to myself…

Turn: (11.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, MP3 calls.

No, no, no…not another J. If he has a A my nuts is counterfeited…

River: (15.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP3 bets, Hero raises, MP3 calls.

Meh…

Final Pot: 19.25 BB
Main Pot: 19.25 BB, between MP3 and Hero. > Split: MP3 (9.62 BB), Hero (9.62 BB).

Results in white below:
MP3 has Ac Ks (full house, aces full of jacks).
Hero has Jd Ad (full house, aces full of jacks).
Outcome: MP3 wins 9.62 BB. Hero wins 9.62 BB.

…Argh!
